COMMUNITY
The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year round, consisting of: full-time staff, families, interns, and gap-year students. Glorieta is somewhat remote with beautiful mountainscapes and about a 20 minute drive from Santa Fe.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Bike & Trails Technician (BTT)
Department: Program Support
Reports To: Director of Program Support

Job Purpose: This is a full-time, hourly position. The Bike & Trails Technician’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all participants using wheeled assets (mountain bikes, mountain scooters, BMX, and drift trikes) have a safe and rewarding experience. Traits that are critical to success will include good judgment, flexibility, patience, and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time. A candidate should be mechanically minded and have some experience with hand tools as well as basic bicycle repair and maintenance. More advanced skills are preferred, but not required for consideration. The BTT will also routinely engage in trail maintenance and on occasion direct groups of volunteers to assist with trail maintenance and other projects. The BTT must be able to thrive and enjoy a supportive role and know how they contribute to the overall mission of Glorieta Adventure Camps. The BTT often works independently, but must also be comfortable leading groups as well as working closely with others on training programs, tourism, planning, and similar tasks. On a day-to-day basis, the BTT performs a variety of tasks including risk management, wheeled asset inspections, and documentation, completes maintenance & repair, maintains an inventory of commonly needed repair parts, and on occasion leads trail rides with guests. In addition the BTT will periodically assist with challenge course/zipline inspections, maintenance, and construction, removal of trees, dead limbs, rocks, and trash from trails, assist with high element course rescues, assist with training programs for new staff, and administrative tasks such as recordkeeping, participation in regular team meetings, email correspondence, etc.

Overall Responsibility
Communicate with Director of Program Support to ensure wheeled activities, trails, and other areas are available & operational for guests.
Oversee and perform maintenance and repair of all wheeled assets: mountain bikes, BMX bikes, mountain scooters, and drift Trikes.
Develop, monitor, coordinate check-in, check-out, and safety inspections for all wheeled assets.
Maintain an inventory of parts commonly needed for maintenance and repair of wheeled assets.
Contribute to the development of instructional materials, rock talks, protocols and policies and procedures for wheeled activities.
Keep current with all regulations, standards, and new requirements that will affect the wheels and trails risk management.
Develop and coordinate inspections, documentation, and action points from said inspections.
Willingness/Ability to learn to operate heavy machinery such as a skid steer.
Able to efficiently manage summer staff.
Assist in recruiting summer staff.
Assist with monitoring activity facilitators to ensure compliance with Policies & Procedures.
Assist as needed with construct and inspections and maintenance of Challenge Course Elements/Ziplines under the direction of the Challenge Course Manager.
Assist the Recreation and Activities Training Manager as needed with guiding Adventure Activities including High Five Zipline Adventure
Assist the Special Projects manager as needed with projects to enhance programs and guest experiences
Participate in department or all camp work projects as needed.

Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. In some cases tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.

Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of his/her life
Ability to manage, encourage, and get along with a variety of people simultaneously and communicate well with their supervisor, team members, staff, and guests
Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines daily, weekly and monthly
Must have proficiency in the Microsoft Word and Excel, their Google counterparts, Google Drive, and Gmail and the ability to learn new systems with an ability to write formal documentation clearly and accurately
Problem solving skills and a desire to learn new things quickly
A strong sense of self-motivation accompanied by a good work ethic and the ability to work alone for extended periods of time
A natural ability or strong desire for organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
Must have experience working with hand tools
Ability to understand industry standards and apply as necessary to unique situations and activities in order to write clear and concise inspection reports
Must be able to perform tasks out of the ordinary on short notice with a degree of flexibility
Familiarity with bike design and proficiency riding mountain bikes
Ability to safely work at height and perform manual labor at height
Zipline operation & maintenance experience is not required, but preferred
Working knowledge of basic ASTM, OSHA, and ACCT Standards is preferred
Prefered: Ability to earn and maintain Lifeguard Certification

Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location.
Travel: Minimal travel will be required for training.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60+ lbs, sit in office, stand all day, bend, squat, be willing to get your hands dirty, hike, bike on singletrack XC trails 10+ miles
Work Environment: Most work will be done outdoors.
Training: All Program Support employees will be given opportunity for improvement through appropriate training.
Compensation: Full-time, hourly with housing, utilities and benefits paid
