Description:

Camp Vesper Point is a Christian Camp located in Soddy Daisy, TN. Vesper Point has been in existence since 1954 and is owned by First Presbyterian, Chattanooga. Vesper Point exists to create a dynamic Christian camping experience for campers where the Gospel of Christ is shared through a relationship between campers and counselors. In addition to our summer camping program, Vesper Point also has a retreat ministry during the non-summer months where retreat guests come for various retreat programs. Retreat dates are almost always on weekends but can occur on select days during the week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with the Camp Director to come up with a healthy and viable camp menu
Working with various food reps to order food items
Cooking all meals during the summer camp and retreat season
Working with all summer and retreat kitchen personnel to ensure the safety and efficient operation of the kitchen
Working with and supporting the entire camp staff to ensure a healthy and proper camp culture
Ensuring that the kitchen meets all cleanliness and operational standards set forth by Hamilton County and the State of Tennessee
Ensure that campers and guests receive the highest level of hospitality in the kitchen and dining hall area while they are visiting camp
Ability to work with a budget to ensure that all food ordering and operations fall within the budget

Qualifications:
Personal faith in Jesus Christ, a commitment to the mission of Vesper Point, and agreement with the Vesper Point Statement of Faith
Experience and knowledge in cooking meals for large groups of people
Experience and knowledge with using equipment in an industrial kitchen
Experience with baking and following recipes
Experience in working with kitchen equipment safely that reaches high temperatures
A heart for working and shepherding with young kitchen workers
A heart for working with and serving campers ages 3rd grade-10th grade
A heart for working with camp staff who are in High School and College
Administrative and organizational skills to ensure proper operation of the kitchen
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Minimum of a High School diploma preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach, and bend.
Requires the ability to stand for long periods.
Requires lifting, pushing and/or pulling which does not typically exceed 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
