Dining Manager

General Qualifications

The Dining Manager is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming MHA’s Christian mission, vision, beliefs and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats.
All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Position Objective:
Oversee strategic development and day-to-day operations of MHA's dining services, ensuring a hospitable, efficient, and ministry-focused dining experience.
Key Job Accountabilities:

Lead and spiritually guide a team of 60+ staff and volunteers, ensuring professional growth and adherence to MHA’s mission.
Collaborate with MHA leadership to achieve departmental goals, emphasizing guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
Strategically enhance dining operations, ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
Uphold staffing excellence by hiring and nurturing staff in harmony with MHA's ethos.
Forge partnerships within and outside MHA for enriched community impact.
Engage personally in dining services to ensure guest satisfaction and gather direct feedback.
Manage dining aesthetics and logistics, coordinating closely with other food service teams for seamless operations.
Comply with all relevant regulations and MHA standards.
Handle additional tasks as directed by leadership.




Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct supervision: Assistant Dining Manager, Dining Supervisors, Dining Staff, and related volunteers.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

College degree mandatory; preference for hospitality management focus.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
Manager’s ServSafe Certification, or ability to obtain; prior certification advantageous.

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years in management, large event coordination, or related MHA supervisory role.
At least 5 years in customer service, ideally in food service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in operational logistics, including staff scheduling and event setup.
Commitment to service excellence and guest satisfaction.
Proven competence in team management, including hiring, training, and motivation.
Resilience in high-pressure situations, maintaining composure and focus.

Physical Demands:

Adaptability to varied work environments and equipment usage.
Capability for moderate lifting and diverse motion tasks.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work summers, weekends, and most major holidays (closed for Christmas).
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Ability to work early mornings, afternoons and late nights as needed.
Must have a clean driving record of at least three years, and agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Vision, Values, and Commitment statements.
Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
