Hume New England - Maintenance Assistant

INTRODUCTION STATEMENT:

Since 1946, more than 1.5 million youth and adults have been exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ at Hume Lake Christian Camps. Our camp and retreat centers are interdenominational, year-round camping ministries dedicated to the glory of God. We are committed to sharing a clear presentation of the gospel and giving guests an opportunity to respond. Our camps extend from the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts to the Sequoia National Forest, and the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.



SCOPE:

Perform duties to assist with routine elements of facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, cleaning, repair, decorating and enhancement assignments and projects, working within the limits of standard methods and procedures.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work from procedures, schedules, processes, purchase orders, and verbal and written instructions, within the limitations of standard methods and procedures.

Perform general indoor maintenance routines including painting, patching walls, trash removal, furniture repair, and set building.

Support the preparation of guest quarters. Assemble and disassemble bunk beds, move furniture, add and remove beds, provide linens, remove debris and stains, refill soap supply, and spray disinfectants. Vacuum, dust and decorate the quarters using standard procedures.

Perform maintenance on outside equipment and facilities including fence repair, snow removal, ice removal, sanding roads, routine roof repair, campfire building and tool repair.

Perform general groundskeeping duties including mowing, leaf blowing, weed cutting, limb removal, and road grading, maintenance, and repair. Assist with the maintenance of groundskeeping equipment as directed.

Provide routine assistance to aid Site Maintenance Manager and contract vendors engaged in any range of facilities or equipment repair or upgrade projects. Gather or store equipment or supplies, assist to run cable or wires, inspect conditions in crawl spaces or attics, hold ladders, tighten bolts, make ordinary cuts, move vehicles and perform similar ancillary manual operations to provide project support.



OTHER DUTIES:

Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.

Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

Participate with all staff to clean and maintain guest quarters, dining facilities and camp common areas in preparation for next session, arrival of guests, or camp opening or closing.

Interact with guests and promote friendly, outgoing atmosphere.



TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Use hand and hand power tools, groundskeeping equipment, vehicles or heavy equipment for snow removal, backhoe, skid steer, lifts, dump trailer, ladders, hoses, gauges, meters, and common measuring equipment, painting supplies, paints, solvents, cleaners, chemicals, oils, and similar maintenance supplies, CMMS system, computer and common office equipment, industrial and common cleaning equipment and supplies.
