Position Description Supervised by: Executive Director Supervises: Summer Staff, Program Faculty, Volunteers, and contract labor as assigned Status: Ongoing, Full-time, Exempt Location: Campus by the Sea (Santa Catalina Island, CA)
To advance the purpose of Campus by the Sea, this position will plan, organize, manage, lead and oversee the flow of programs and events for CBS, working in partnership and collaboration with all full-time staff and under the direction and leadership of the Executive Director of Campus by the Sea.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Lead all Signature (revenue producing) Programs and Staff Programs: Organize, Coordinate and Lead CBS Programs. Implement new programs. Set program dates, schedules, activities, and speakers. Confirm content and schedule of sessions with speaker. Manage Program and related budgets. Coordinate details with program speakers, volunteers and staff regarding their program and operational needs. Recruit, train and enrich program staff. Assign tasks and manage schedules for everyone assigned to programed events. Oversee and expand retail and sales opportunities. Serve as a member of the Management Team. Effectively evaluate program elements, experiences, and results.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Train and encourage other camp staff to support and facilitate program activities. Assist in all projects associated with camp facilities and food service as needed. Encourage and lead camp community enhancement activities. Operate CBS vehicles and vessels in support of guest activities and ongoing operations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Annually affirm the Campus by the Sea Statement of Faith, Mission and Purpose. Demonstrate a servant’s heart and mature walk with the Lord. Demonstrated ability and experience as a Christian discipler. College degree, trade certification or equivalent experience. A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) is preferred. Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to receive and give constructive criticism in a God honoring and positive manner. Effective planning, organizing, and implementing skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and files. Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently. Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours as required. Open to learn new concepts, methods, and skills. Must be able to work in a multigenerational and multicultural environment and demonstrate willingness to contribute to positive community development. Ability to participate in and lead physical activities. Occasional local and overnight travel may be required. Ability to follow through with other duties as assigned by the Camp Director. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time. Professional camping and/or ministry experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Seminary, Masters or Advanced degree in related field. Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding (or willingness to pursue education to become certified). SCUBA Open Water Diver Certification (or willingness to pursue education to become certified). USCG OUPV License (6-Pack Captain’s License). Standard First Aid and CPR, adult & infant certification (and willingness to pursue education to become certified).
