Kitchen & Food Services Apprentice

2020-2021 SKYVIEW RANCH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

The SVR Apprenticeship Program is here to provide a hands-on learning experience in a Christian camp ministry environment while providing both Biblical discipleship and leadership training. This nine-month program provides an experience that is both structured and intentional for each individual and provides an environment for learning designed to equip for spiritual development and growth, ministry awareness, and specifically Christian camp ministry readiness.

Each apprentice is hired to serve and work in their specific area for training. ALL apprentices will be required at times to help out in other departments by cleaning, setting up/tearing down, serving meals and more.

KITCHEN & FOOD SERVICES APPRENTICE
Skyview Ranch is seeking one Kitchen/Food Services Apprentice for the upcoming year.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Food Service Director in all areas of the kitchen (meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, setting up dining hall, serving, etc.)
• Assist the Food Service Director with training/working with new kitchen volunteers and staff members to ensure food safety guidelines are being met.
• Clean camp with all other apprentices on assigned cleaning days.
• Help with other ministry areas when asked by Food Service Director.

Goals:
• Ability to cook and manage a kitchen when preparing food for large quantities of guests.
• Ability to work in and appreciate a ministry area that is not front and center to guests.
• Ability to run a weekend in the kitchen without the Food Service Director present.
• Ability to help train and manage summer staff in the kitchen.

Expectations:
• Arrive on time for work and develop healthy time management.
• Maintain a professional and well-kept appearance.
• Serve with a smile and a positive attitude.
• Complete all tasks in a timely manner.
• Assist in all areas of the kitchen.
• Report any issues to the Food Service Director.

• Fall Staff Leadership Retreat
• Leadership Training at Christian Camping Conferences
• Teaching/leading opportunities through promoting SVR at area churches, youth groups, and Christian colleges.
• Leading devotions & prayer at staff meetings
• Lead and design a Winter Retreat

Life Components:
• Developing healthy respect for people, SVR property, and your home
• Work Ethic
• Learning expectations of you as a young adult
• Laundry, meal-planning, and budget skills
• Computer, Email, and System Skills
• Housekeeping
• Time Management

Mentorship Components
• Discipleship and intentional service in a ministry environment
• One-on-one opportunities with staff directors
• Staff will encourage and pour into you while serving together
