When more American teens are suffering from severe anxiety than ever before,[1] parents, teachers and therapists have difficult choices to make and may struggle with how to respond. Pressures rise from so many areas of teens’ lives—academics, social settings, athletics, families—and social media often amplifies the stress. With busy schedules and limited personal time for reflection, students today can benefit greatly from time spent at camp or a retreat center. The power of camp provides opportunities for students to be with positive role models, explore creation and learn about Jesus in a safe, loving environment. Giving teens a chance to unplug, step away from the situations that contribute to their anxieties and experience life unfiltered is an avenue to provide hope for youth in crisis.
