Operations Manager

This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. The role of the Operations Manager at Cave Springs is to aid and assist the Camp Director by leading, managing, and overseeing certain operational aspects of the Camp thereby enabling and furthering the mission of Sky Ranch to lead youth and families to know and follow Christ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees Cave Springs Operations and Logistics.
This role includes but is not limited to:
Aiding the Director in oversight and guidance of camp personnel and guests with regards to security, facilities, programs, health care, safety, and risk management/compliance.
Run weekly OPS meetings and daily summer OPS meetings and disseminate information to staff in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
Provide direction and supervision of direct reports; provide professional growth and development; develop and communicate goals and objectives; monitor, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback and direction to direct reports; conduct annual performance and ongoing evaluation.
Coordinate summer schedules and facilitate allocations between departments.
Learn and implement industry standard customer services techniques and expectations.
Work with and provide oversight with all camps and departments to ensure Cave Springs site compliance with regulatory agencies such as (but not limited to): OSHA, ACA, CCCA, state Department of Human Services, Dept of Public Health and Safety, Environmental Quality, Water Rights, Drinking water, Pools, Waste Water Systems, etc.
Ensure all Sky Ranch policies and procedures are implemented and enforced.
Assist the Director to review monthly statements, oversee budgets for all managing departments, and budgeting and planning for future fiscal years.
Assist the Director with oversight and leadership in prioritizing Sky Ranch Cave Springs capital needs based on available funding, coordinating the sale and donation of assets and in-kind contributions, work with and through approvals of the Camp Director, appropriate GLT members, VP of Operations, and CEO.
Submit recommendations for improving processes and procedures.
Oversee all retreats and Retreat Coordinators and fill in as needed as retreat coordinator.
Answer phones promptly, take accurate messages, and respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in sales and marketing efforts of the camp.
Recommend process and procedural improvements.
Prepare and proofread letters, memos, and other correspondence on an accurate and timely basis.
Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures.
Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties as required.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Assist with the management of the Cave Springs budget to include capital expenses and ordering of equipment and supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
College degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years of related experience in camp ministry.
KNOWLEDGE
In-depth understanding of the field of camping and/or group retreats generally acquired through a minimum of three years of related experience in camp ministry; college degree preferred.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome.
Basic proficiency with managing a departmental budget. Ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative.
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to guests (youth and parents), clergy and staff of various Christian churches and organizations of all sizes, cultural identities and worship styles, co-workers, peers, and board members.
Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and/or retreats as required. Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
Ability to prepare moderately complex reports.
Ability to communicate the vision of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers.
Ability to speak, read, and write proficiently in English.
Ability to speak clearly and make self-understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone and through e-mail.
Excellent listening skills.
Excellent, professional written communication skills.
Ability to deal with complex situations or issues and make effective, timely and appropriate decisions.

Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends.

Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks.
Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Basic internet and social media skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works indoors in normal office environment about half of the time and outdoors the other time.
Some limited exposure to physical risk while working with activities.
Some physical effort required on a routine basis; ability to use up to 20 pounds of force regularly and 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.
Requires some physical agility, including but not limited to bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual, crawling under desks, stooping, and climbing step stools or ladder.
OTHER
Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. Must be able to fully support Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement. An active membership in a church whose spiritual beliefs are aligned with Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement.

Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
