Food Services Manager

About Us: South Mountain Christian Camp is a unique and innovative camp nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We provide unforgettable experiences that foster personal growth and create lasting memories. We believe that everyone should have access to a camp experience, especially children. That is why we are dedicated to providing summer camp scholarships to any child in need and we work year-round with other ministries and organizations to provide retreat experiences to guest. Our commitment to excellence extends to every aspect of the camp, including our food services.

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Services Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall success of our camp by overseeing all aspects of the food services operation.

Responsibilities:
1. Menu Planning: Develop nutritious and well-balanced menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs of campers and staff.
2. Food Preparation and Service: Coordinate and supervise the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in compliance with health and safety regulations.
3. Inventory Management: Manage food inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records to ensure a well-stocked and organized kitchen.
4. Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and lead a team of kitchen staff, ensuring a positive and efficient work environment.
5. Budget Management: Work within budget constraints to maximize resources and minimize waste while maintaining high-quality food services.
6. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all food services activities adhere to health and safety standards, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
7. Customer Satisfaction: Foster positive relationships with campers and staff by addressing dietary preferences, allergies, and special requests.

Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Food Services Manager or similar role.
2. Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
3. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
5. Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a food services environment.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic camp setting.
7. Passion for creating an enjoyable and positive dining experience for campers and staff.

Working Conditions: This is a salaried position, paid weekly in a range from 20k to 30k and the hours of work are determined by the needs of the organization. Most of the Fall and Winter are spend working with retreat groups and special events. The summer is spent facilitating the in-house ministry program. It runs for six weeks, during summer school break, campers arrive on Sunday and leave on Friday. Much of the summer staff will choose to remain on the grounds during their short weekend. On campus housing is available to help support the workload.
