Head Equestrian Instructor

Description in a Nutshell:
> The Head Equestrian Instructor helps us create Christ-centered experiences that reveal our place in God’s story by having a love for horses and investing in the lives of the Horse Campers. They will also live by example as they share the love of Jesus.

Job Responsibilities:
> Individual would oversee barn chores throughout the week and on the weekends from the end of May until August when programming ends. Caring for the herds' physical needs under the supervision of the Equine Director.
> Doctoring any horses in need of minor treatments for saddle sores, thrush, or other issues that may arise.
> Oversee Wranglers during barn chores, assign jobs, and report to the Equine Director as needs and issues arise
> Observe and handle minor maintenance issues at the barn and report to the proper source.
> On hand to assist with vet or farrier when needed
> Teach riding classes with the assistance of wranglers.
> Ride horses that need to be schooled or evaluated for possible addition to the program.
> Work alongside barn staff to develop and implement programs to potentially expand the program.
> Lead Staff devotions and potentially campers if called on

Other things you need to know:
> This position requires a Certification in CHA or another type of program - Advanced Horsemanship. The ability to teach and implement lesson plans, a knowledge of horse care and basic horse doctoring, and First aid and CPR training
> Each Summer Staff member is expected to attend morning devotions/meetings each day.
> Each Summer Staff member will fill out the staff application.
> Each Summer Staff will agree to and sign the commitment sheet that explains the commitment to God and the team.
> Each Summer Staff hire is contingent upon passing and submitting background checks and child abuse clearance.
> Summer Staff under the age of 18 must provide a copy of their work permit.
> As Head Equestrian Instructor you will be a member of the Summer Staff Leadership Team.
