Maintenance/Grounds Assistant

Live and work in the mountains of northern New Mexico! In the maintenance/grounds assistant position, you will serve Christ by helping to keep camp clean, functional, organized, visually appealing, safe, and appropriately comfortable. You will work under the facilities manager to accomplish maintenance and grounds tasks during the spring-fall season and assist with summer operations.

Full Job Description: Maintenance/Grounds Assistant

Responsible to: Facilities Manager
Time: Full-Time during Spring-Fall Season; opportunity for continued employment after fall season ends.

- Active in church, holy lifestyle, committed to ministry.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience with grounds work including mowing and weed-eating
- Able to drive maintenance vehicles, including a standard transmission
- Additional experience in facility, grounds and equipment maintenance, or willingness to learn
- Demonstrated ability to get along well with people and be “guest minded” at all times.
- Ability to view tasks with a team mindset
- Alignment with our statement of beliefs and organizational essentials including shared core values, a sense of personal calling to our mission, a commitment to our vision.
- Agree to live on site or within a reasonable daily commute to the camp property.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist the facilities manager in assigned tasks.
- Occasionally direct other employees or volunteers who are assigned to maintenance/grounds tasks.
- Receive training to operate camp equipment safely.
- Take care of camp equipment and vehicles that you use.
- Share responsibility on turnover days including cleaning and checking facilities for damage or unusual disarray.
- Attend to repair requests according to your ability and training.
- Be willing to accept emergency maintenance responsibilities (usually assisting the facilities manager).
- Help facilitate camp activities (ropes, rappelling, archery, campfire, etc.).
- Help maintain the health of our forest, creek, trails, and other natural features.
- Responsibilities beyond the scope of this job description may be occasionally required.

Essential Functions:
- Be able to occasionally make shopping runs to town.
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in a strenuous outdoor environment every day in all weather conditions, and lift or carry items 90 lbs. or less.
- Visually identify hazards, needed repairs, and necessary cleaning throughout the camp, and respond appropriately.
- Be an advocate and fan of our camp

Compensation and benefits:
- Starting pay is $12/hour, with potential for overtime when guests are onsite.
- Hourly full time employment, with paychecks occurring every 2 weeks, during Spring-Fall season. Hours over 40 in the Sunday-Saturday period are paid overtime at 1 ½ times hourly rate.
- Benefits: Meals included when food service is active, access to leftovers as directed by the food service manager. Overnight housing as required to fulfill your duties including paid utilities of electric, water, and wifi internet access. Access to paper products, trash bags, and cleaning supplies for the employee lodging space.
