2026 Summer Staff Leadership Team
COME SERVE AND BE DISCIPLED!
PURPOSE STATEMENT: The purpose of the Summer Leadership team is to support the Rec Coordinator and Summer Staff in order to maximize the experience of the guest and the effectiveness of Tejas as a ministry. This individual will serve as a vital member of our staff team, Team Two:Three. Putting others’ needs before our own, both in our relationships within the team and in accommodating our guests, striving to always count others as more significant than ourselves. This is done in accordance with Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
This person will serve alongside the Tejas team in fulfilling the Tejas mission of setting the stage for Jesus to transform lives. This is accomplished by exemplifying our core values: People: Viewing everyone as an image-bearer of Jesus Service: As a means for sharing the Gospel Adventure: As a relational catalyst, and Safety: as an integral part of People, Service and Adventure
RESPONSIBILITIES: Summer Leadership Responsibilities Adhere to Recreational Responsibilities Lead zone meeting, ensuring everyone is to their allocation on time and recording anyone who is tardy, setting up rec activities, praying together before starting rec Attend all leadership meetings as well as summer staff meetings to receive allocations and information regarding guest and staff needs Communicate with Rec Coordinator and Summer Staff Manager prior to arrival and during events, providing feedback from summer staff as needed Live as a servant leader, encouraging positive team culture and leading by example in following summer staff rules and policies and holding others accountable Invite everyone into Christian community, shutting down gossip and the formation of cliques, making sure we have an inclusive culture so people aren’t left out Communicate any behavioral issues/staff concerns to the Summer Staff Manager and/or Rec Coordinator in a timely fashion so issues can be addressed promptly Serve as a room leader, maintaining clean living conditions, mediating conflict and enforcing curfew and all other rules and policies Assist in maintaining all recreation areas including the pool, lakes, inflatables lake, one wheels, bazooka ball, axe throwing, boats, gel blasters, z-tag, mudpit, and escape box. Adjust and fill in at rec activities and provide breaks as needed Assist in maintaining inventory of the rec supplies and notifying Rec Coordinator of all needed supplies or repairs. Provide a high degree of welcoming, detail-oriented service to guests and staff Provide timely and professional communication for guests and staff needs Serving as both planned and last-minute needs arise Serve at camp meals as needed Assist all other departments as needed Training & Oversight Responsibilities Obtain and/or maintain Site Specific Challenge Course certification in order to assist in operating our adventure elements for guests Obtain and/or maintain Lifeguard and First Aid certifications
