Community The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year-round. This group includes full-time staff, staff families, and seasonal staff. Glorieta is a beautiful setting nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and is a remote, rural community about 20 miles from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Job Description Title: Senior Software Developer + System Administrator Department: Shared Services Reports To: Director of Technology Solutions
As a Senior Software Developer + System Administrator on our Technology Solutions team, your purpose will be to fulfill our mission of inspiring Christ-like change by creating digital solutions that directly affect our employees, programs, guests, and ministry partners. This is a multifaceted role responsible for assisting the Director with the oversight and management of our IT infrastructure, alongside active participation in software development projects. This position demands a candidate with a strong technical acumen in both IT infrastructure and software development, fostering an integrated approach to technology within our organization.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations As a hybrid role, the Senior Software Developer + System Administrator will split time between software development projects and system administration responsibilities. The system administration responsibilities are secondary and intended to assist the Technology Solutions Director in managing the IT infrastructure of the campus.
Software Development Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the Director and other team members on solution design of web applications, mobile applications, and integrations. Design, develop, and maintain software applications aligned with company objectives with resilience, scalability, and performance in mind. Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather software requirements and deliver solutions. Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to process improvement, owning specific tasks and deliverables. Debug and troubleshoot software issues and propose effective solutions. Test and deploy programs and applications in cloud environments. Keep up-to-date with software development best practices and industry trends. Ensure that software development projects are delivered on time and within scope. Develop technical documentation to guide future software development projects.
System Administration Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the Director to manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, network components, and systems. Ensure the security, availability, and performance of the IT environment. Implement and maintain network monitoring and management tools. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues promptly. Manage hardware and software inventory and procurement. Develop and enforce IT security policies and practices. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to IT infrastructure. Collaborate with vendors for IT equipment procurement and support. Evaluate IT hardware and recommend upgrades or replacements. Manage IT hardware inventory and warranty information.
Character, Abilities, Skills, Experience, Education: The “ideal” candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined, and have the following:
Personal and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ Passion to support an organization striving to create Christ-like change Proven experience in IT infrastructure administration and software development, with a strong technical skill set. Proficiency in infrastructure hardware and software, network protocols, and software development languages and frameworks, including: HTML/CSS JavaScript (JQuery, JSON, Node.js) Javascript frameworks (Angular, React, Svelte, etc) Salesforce development (Lightning, ) Java/APEX Relational databases REST APIs DevOps & CI/CD (Using Azure and AWS) Ability to work quickly and follow industry best practices Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to learn, adapt, and grow with our team Certified Salesforce Developer preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline Ability to sit and focus on a singular task for several hours at a time
Work Context: This job is on location in Glorieta, New Mexico. Travel: Some travel to support our Texas Camp and for training and development (up to 4x per year). Work Environment: This position will be primarily office based, but may be called upon to assist with other duties as needs arise. Training: All employees will be given the opportunity to improve their skills through appropriate training. This will include ongoing coaching and on the job training as a regular part of this position.
