COMMUNITY
The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to work here. We have approximately 120 persons who live on-site; consisting of full-time staff and families as well as gap-year students and seasonal staff. This is a semi-remote living environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Oversee production and execution of meals in the Main Dining Hall as designated by the food service manager. Maintain operational condition of kitchens as outlined in policies and procedures to meet and exceed state and federal compliance.
Reports To: Food Service Manager, Wayne Gardner. Job Purpose: Supporting Glorieta’s mission by providing outstanding meals and excellent customer service.
Overall Responsibility: Oversee meal planning and preparation for up to 3,000 guests per meal Assist in the management of all hourly kitchen staff, seasonal staff, and volunteers Assist and participate in cleaning projects and managerial tasks as necessary to meet policy and procedural compliance Assist in training and ongoing development of full-time, summer, seasonal, and hourly staff Maintain leadership in modeling cleanliness, readiness, and effectiveness of food service operations Responsible for documentation and execution of food safety plans, daily checklists, and stock rotation on a shift-by-shift basis Assist in creating and costing menu items Maintain inventory and assist in cost control measures Support the food service manager in the ordering and receiving of all stock items Manage and maintain HACCP and OSHA safety programs as required to meet compliance and ensure safe facilities Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment, work and storage areas, and dining facilities
Skills and Abilities: A personal relationship with Christ Strong work ethic Sense of urgency and timeliness Ability to manage peers, full-time staff, summer, seasonal and hourly staff in a positive and respectful manner Highly organized with an eye for detail Excellent personal hygiene A servant’s heart, with a strong calling toward hospitality Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, typing, and basic computer skills a plus Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on-site at Glorieta Camps. Travel: Occasional travel for recruiting and training Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds, to stand for several hours, to climb stairs Scheduling: We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and schedule according to the needs of the guests Compensation: $14.03/hour (40 hrs/week), onsite housing, $0 deductible/premium health plan, 401(k) retirement package after one year, and paid vacation time.
