COMMUNITY The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year-round, comprised of: full-time staff and families, seasonal staff, and gap-year students. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for a somewhat remote living.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Housekeeping Manager
Department: Guest Services
Reports To: Director of Guest Services

Job Purpose: As the Manager of the Housekeeping department at Glorieta Adventure Camps, you will work toward fulfilling our mission by giving guests a great experience by maintaining the cleanliness of all buildings and upholding, creating, and organizing systems that foster an enjoyable and efficient cleaning process. This includes managing housekeeping staff, full-time staff, part-time staff, summer staff, and volunteers, who assist in housekeeping duties.

Overall Responsibility
Uphold established standards of cleanliness in all guest spaces and manage staff to uphold the same standards.
Take chief responsibility for the inventory, ordering, and management of all cleaning supplies and linens for guest rooms and meeting rooms cleanliness within budget.
Take chief responsibility for the cleanliness, upkeep, organization, and functionality of all cleaning and supply rooms and closets.
Take chief responsibility for the pulling and disposing of the public/private trash from around various guest rooms/meeting rooms on a daily basis while in use.
Take chief responsibility for the laundry room and ensure the linens are done in a timely and efficient manner in-house or through a laundry vendor.
Be available for on-call shifts while guests are on property as part of a housekeeping team to meet guests’ needs during off-hours
Consistently prep and clean camp before and after every guest group and manage the other housekeeping staff, as well as the other staff (i.e. other full-time staff, retreat guides, etc.) that help during these times. This includes maintaining a schedule that is based on guest needs and working when guests are present, which often includes nights and weekends.
Manage the housekeeping budget and spending.
Be the point of contact for outside vendors aiding in various aspects of cleaning.

Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.

Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:
Ability to communicate well with team members, staff, and guests
Ability to manage peers, Glorieta full-time staff, guides, and summer staff in a positive and respectful way when they are helping to clean under your supervision
Have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, typing, basic math, basic computer functions, organization, and be detailed oriented
A strong desire to learn new things quickly
A strong sense of self-motivation
A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of his/her life
Previous experience in any of the duties listed is preferred
Good work ethic
Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly for most tasks
Have a natural ability or strong desire for organization
Willingness to perform many tasks alone
An eye for things that need done and how to make them more excellent
Passion for cleaning, problem-solving, fixing things, making things beautiful, leading by serving, stewardship

Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at Glorieta, New Mexico.
Travel: Possible infrequent travel to workshop training.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60 lbs, sit in office, hike, stand all day, bend, squat, be on hands and knees cleaning all day, climb stairs, be around strong cleaning chemicals on a daily basis and be willing to get your hands dirty.
Work Environment: Most work will be done throughout campus, including indoors and outdoors. This may include working in inclement weather conditions throughout the year.
Training: Guest Services employees will be given opportunity for improvement through appropriate training.
Compensation: Salary, onsite housing, medical insurance, 401(k) retirement package after one year, and paid vacation time. See HR and/or potential supervisor for details.
