Position Description: Adult and Family Ministries Director
Reports to: Sr. Director of Program
FLSA Status: Full Time Exempt
Job Summary
This person will direct the planning, preparation and execution of multiple adult and family retreats throughout the year.
This person will be responsible for setting the overall vision and direction of adult and family ministries at Hume Lake, in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Program
Scope of Job
Be responsible for the planning, preparing and running of multiple adult retreats throughout the year
Be able to think “out of the box” to create innovative programs for all ages.
Maintain healthy relationships with church & group leaders
Be able to anticipate, identify, and take care of needs for upcoming retreats in appropriate, proactive time frames.
Be able to host weekends, MC meetings and oversee retreat responsibilities. Being comfortable and engaging on stage is a must.
Oversee the process of hiring speakers, bands and entertainment for adult retreats
Be able to communicate with guests on a personal level – pursue people, be hospitable, genuine and engaging
Communicate needs and requests of upcoming retreats to each individual department in an effective and timely manner
Develop and maintain an annual budget for the operation of the ministry
Supervise all hosts, volunteer staff and weekend helpers
General Qualifications
Evidenced commitment to the Christian faith and a desire to share the knowledge of Jesus Christ with others
Agree with our Statement of Belief and abide by our Code of Conduct (see Employee Handbook)
Have a great stage presence and be able to communicate to guests in a large group setting
Commitment to excellence and attention to detail
Has an engaging personality – works well with all people and has a sense of humor
Manage camp resources with biblical view toward stewardship
Look for ways to take care of people’s needs. Be in tune to our guests
Always look for ways to improve and maintain professionalism
Have the ability and willingness to work long hours when needed
Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job
Must be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision
Willing to serve wherever needed-no job too small or too big, leads by example
Specific Qualifications
Is passionate about adults and guests of all ages coming to know Christ and grow in camp setting
Person of integrity and highly responsible
A team player that can work well with all staff
Must be able to make wise decisions in the scope and within Hume’s overall vision and purpose for ministry
Must have computer experience and be familiar with normal office procedures
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; may be on uneven or rugged terrain
Must be able to live and work in extreme weather conditions
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; increased amounts of weight may be required
Must be able to live at high altitude and in small living quarters
Out-of-town and/or overnight travel may be required
Educational
College Degree in Biblical Studies, Theology or Church Ministry
Experience in Youth Ministry / Church Ministry
Other
Must have a track record of success in Christian Ministry
