Equestrian Program Coordinator Canyonview Ministries in Silverton, Oregon Job Type: Seasonal Salary and Benefits: $1,500 per month or depending on experience + Room and Board Job Summary: This position is in charge of coordinating the camps, activities, outdoor schools, and events of the equestrian center. The coordinator also assists with the hiring and training of staff, creating and teaching Bible studies. Organization Mission: With a Biblical verse by verse foundation, Canyonview provides a safe outdoor environment, spiritually vibrant programs, & practical leadership training to impact youth, adults, & families in the local community & beyond. Mission Role: To share the word of truth & love of Christ to every person participating in the equestrian center using the horses as a tool for outreach. It is also the goal of the Equestrian Program Coordinator to train, guide, & disciple while teaching the staff of the horsemanship ministry to work with integrity & share the vision & purpose of the Equestrian Center and Canyonview Ministries. Job Qualifications and Certifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability. A love for the Lord and a desire to make him known to others Ability to teach verse by verse from the Bible A servant’s heart willing to do any task necessary Strong work ethic with the ability to work with and lead others Respectful and able to support a team Age 21 years or older Equestrian experience preferred Ability to perform physical responsibilities of the job. Standing/walking for multiple hours, lifting 50+ lbs frequently, stooping, crouching, climbing ladders, etc. Ability to perform job duties in all types of weather Desire to maintain high professional standards and to continue learning and developing a greater professional capacity Excellent written, oral and digital communications Able to read, analyze and report information to leadership and staff members Ability to act as a unified team member across any department within the ministry Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Summer Camp- Brainstorm, market & plan all camp activities & schedules with the other camp staff. Complete all pre-camp & post-camp paperwork. Plan & prepare the Bible studies to be taught. Coordinate Events- Equipment, horses and activities with all departments such as CEC Manager, Riding Instructors, Camp Program Manager, and Food Service Manager. Staff- Recruiting- Selection & the hiring of summer and retreat staff. Organize & facilitate summer staff meetings (including Bible study), provide encouragement, & accountability. Provide each staff member with schedules, conduct program briefing and debriefings. Staff Training- Assist in the planning, brainstorming & leading of staff training. Facilitate all horsemanship training needed. Confirm that each staff member understands & is able to accurately teach the chosen passages to their campers. Lead or assign a qualified leader for daily staff Bible studies. Emails/Social Media- Responsible to respond to all emails or social media correspondence regarding the equestrian camps in a timely manner. Facility- Ensure the Ranch building is prepared for guests & staff. Clean carpets, tidy kitchen, & make sure coffee & hot water are ready for guests. Keep the staff offices, lounge & bathrooms clean & sanitary before, during & after camps. Food Service- Make sure all camp meals are coordinated with the kitchen & hosted. Supplies- Maintain or order supplies from various departments; i.e., paper plates, coffee, office, cleaning supplies etc. Administrative - Office duties, photocopies, computer work before camp.
