Reports to: Head wrangler, Ranch manager, Executive Director

Requirements:

Christian

Must be 18 years or older

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Familiarity with horses.

Be an advanced horse rider

Good awareness of safety concerns when working with horses

Be able to ride horse while guiding and teaching campers

Self-motivated, able to work independently

Willingness to participate in activities and projects outside of primary role

Willing to lodge on the Island

Preferences:

Previous experience working with children

Strong horsemanship

Previous ranch experience or high level riding experience

Description:

The wranglers help the head wrangler with all the needs for the horses and horse program at Lutheran Island Camp. This includes but is not limited to: caring for the horses, assisting in leading horse camps, assisting in driving the Team, helping lead one hour horse rides, and teaching and guiding the campers. Horse Camp is our most popular camp so a wrangler must be able to instruct campers well. Wranglers must also be willing to learn about children and the best way to interact with different age groups. Wranglers also are used as support staff in the evenings. These duties include leading evening program games, including set up and take down, leading song actions at campfire, and playing guitar at campfire if able.
