Kitchen Assistant

Reports to: Head cook, program coordinator, executive director

Requirements:

Christian

Must be 18 or older

Willingness to learn

Willingness to do tasks assigned outside of the kitchen

Team player

Preferences:

Previous kitchen experience

Positive attitude

Good work ethic

Detail oriented

Ability to stay on camp for the duration of the summer

Willing to lodge on the Island

Description:

We can’t have summer camp without the kitchen! Kitchen assistants carry out the menu set by the head cook every day. They set up the dining hall, make food, clean the kitchen, and help lead games and songs in the evening. The kitchen staff is responsible for meeting and exceeding OSHA standards. Kitchen assistants are generally housed on the Island but can also live offsite if they are from the area upon discussion with the Program Coordinator and Head Cook. Kitchen assistants also are used as support staff in the evenings. These duties include leading evening program games, including set up and take down, leading song actions at campfire, and playing guitar at campfire if able.
