Position Title: Executive Director
Location: Silverton, OR

Mission
With a biblical foundation, Canyonview provides a safe outdoor environment, spiritually and
educationally vibrant programs, and practical leadership training to impact youth, adults, and
families in the local community and beyond.

Position Overview
The role of the Executive Director at Canyonview Camp is to design, develop and implement
strategic business plans for the ministry that are both cost, time efficient and spiritually sound.
The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization, which
includes managing committees and staff, as well as developing business plans in collaboration
with the board. The board sets the vision through a high-level strategic plan, but it is the role
of the executive director to create and implement functional business plans that support the
strategic plan as well as the spiritual vision of Canyonview.

The board functions in an advisory and accountability capacity and generally grants the
Executive Director the authority to run the organization in accordance with the strategic and
business plans. The Executive Director is accountable to the board of directors and reports to
the board on a regular basis as defined by the organization's bylaws.

Job Responsibilities
1. The Executive Director is required to meet the qualifications of an elder as specified in
1Timothy 3:1-7, with the exceptions that they may be male or female, married or single. The
Executive Director’s Spouse (if any) must also meet the qualifications of an elder as specified in
1Timothy 3:1-7 and be supportive of the ministry.
2. The Executive Director will provide spiritual encouragement, accountability, and
integrity while displaying a strong work ethic to all staff / interns / volunteers / campers and
must agree to the Biblical Mission and Statement of Faith, in writing, at the time of an offer of
employment.

3. The Executive Director will verify conformity of programs and facilities within the
purpose and scope of the organization and ensure the ministry operates in compliance with
applicable Local, State, and Federal regulations.
4. The Executive Director is responsible for the development and overall management of
staff policies and procedures; to include personnel policies and practices, implementation of
staff training and development, and annual staff evaluations. The Executive Director also
assists directors/staff with the recruiting/selection process in hiring interns and employees as
needed.
5. The Executive Director directs and attends permanent staff meetings, devotion times,
and related Canyonview functions.
6. The Executive Director is responsible for the supervision/direction of advertising,
promotion, fund raising, donor development and public awareness of the ministries.
7. The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of staff pay/benefits and
development/management of the organizational budget. The Executive Director also reviews
financial reports with the Office Manager and/or accounting firm where applicable.
8. The Executive Director acts as a Human Resource Director if another staff member does
not have the designation.
9. The Executive Director prepares and presents reports to the board of directors,
providing information on the growth, progress, and financial status of the ministries.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior Leadership position in a camping ministry (Director of Christian camp, staff or programs
preferred).

Significant leadership experience in a Christian church, ministry or non-profit.

Management work experience with significant lay leadership in a Christian church, ministry or
non-profit.

Minimum Qualifications
• Preaching, teaching or other Christian education experience; preferably in a management
or leadership role.

• Love Jesus and fully committed to his will & word as revealed in the Scriptures.
• Must meet the qualifications of an elder as cited in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
• Values solid scriptural presentation; able to teach expositionally in a verse-by-verse
manner, in context, with an emphasis on the Pauline epistles.
• Able to manage people and respectfully communicate the vision and purpose of
Canyonview to our constituents; staff, volunteers, campers, parents, donors, etc.
• Love people, especially youth!

• Proficiency in an office setting using;
• PC based Windows operating systems
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Knowledge of Google Suite tools (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.) helpful
• Competently operate office equipment (Phone/Fax/Copy Machines, etc.)

Salary:
• $4,000/month salary plus housing.
•  After 90 days, a probationary review will occur with a potential increase to $4,200/month
salary.

Housing:
• If there is no on campus housing available for the Executive Director (and their
spouse/children), they will receive a $1,500/month housing stipend in addition to their
salary.
• No housing stipend applies if the Executive Director (and their spouse/children) live on
campus.

Meals:
• Meals are available for the employee and his family whenever they are being served for a
group.
• Currently when there is no group 1 meal a day is available for the employee and his family. 

About the Ministry at Canyonview
Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Canyonview supports various outdoor school and
camp ministries including an equestrian camp, day camps and overnight camps for youth and
churches in Oregon. We are conveniently located within about a 30 minute drive to Corbin
Christian University and a 60 minute drive to the Portland airport or the Oregon Coast.
Bible Teaching, Inc. was founded in 1963 when Dr. Ernest Campbell began looking at ways to
spread the Gospel through radio broadcasts, a Bible seminary, a printing press, and a Christian
camp. In 1966, Canyonview Camp was born. His dream has become a legacy through the hard
work and prayers of many, continuing to make Canyonview a place that many call their
"second home.”
