Food Service Manager--SoCal
Position Description: Food Service Manager – Hume SoCal
Reports to: Site Director
FLSA Status: Full-time; Non-exempt (hourly wage)
Job Summary
Responsibilities include managing a medium sized commercial kitchen, leading a staff of up to 20 part time and seasonal staff, preparation of up to 1500 meals per day, and oversite of a six-figure budget. Strong leadership and managerial skills and experience in food service management.
Organizational Strategy
· Work with the site Director and staff to provide professional, efficient food services to meet ministry goals
· Focus on the Organization’s “Mission” and “Attention to Excellence” as a priority
· Develop and maintain a strategic perspective – based on organizational needs
· Lead with a Christ like attitude, inspire healthy working relationships
· Project a friendly demeanor when meeting the needs of camp staff and guests
Managing
· Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment
· Conformity of all Health Department rules and regulations, including staff certifications
· The overall readiness and cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment, to include the dining room
General Qualifications
· Evidenced commitment to the Christian faith and a desire to share the knowledge of Jesus Christ with others
· Agree with our Statement of Belief and abide by our Code of Conduct to remain “Mission” focused
· Commitment to excellence and attention to detail
· Manage and utilize camp resources with biblical view toward stewardship
· Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of our seasonal camping and guest group schedule
· Working knowledge of Hume’s style of food service, including the utilization of our technology programs
Specific Qualifications
· Committed to leading a full-time staff by modeling Christ, inspiring Christian growth, and living out the gospel
· Thorough attention to detail
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
· Menu development to accommodate special dietary needs
? Experience in budget preparation and management, purchasing and inventory control ? Able to work long hours, including weekends to ensure the accomplishment of the mission
? Able to forecast staffing needs, interview and assist in the hiring process
Physical Demands
· Must be able to work at Hume SoCal at an elevation of 6800 ft.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Other
· Five years of experience in managing and supervising food service employees
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred
