REPORTS TO: Host Coordinator
PURPOSE STATEMENT: The purpose of the Guest Services Host is to work as an advocate for both guests and staff in order to maximize the experience of the guest and the effectiveness of Tejas as a ministry. This individual will serve as a vital member of our staff team, Team Two:Three. Putting others’ needs before our own, both in our relationships within the team and in accommodating our guests, striving to always count others as more significant than ourselves in accordance with Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position comprises a flexible schedule of weekend, weekday, and evening on-call time. The Guest Services Host is both highly relational and detail-oriented, ensuring each and every guest has a transformative experience at Tejas. The individual will be the main point of contact for guests, group leaders, and other Tejas departments to ensure the guests have the best experience possible. This includes operating with flexibility to make sure the guest’s stay runs smoothly as best planned and helping other departments as needed. This person will serve alongside the Tejas team in fulfilling the Tejas mission of setting the stage for Jesus to transform lives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Guest Services & Hospitality Responsibilities Provide a high degree of welcoming, detail-oriented service to guests and staff Serving as point of contact for both planned and last-minute guest needs Anticipate and recognize guest needs and act on them accordingly Communicate with group leaders prior to arrival and during events, assisting with questions, planning and other information regarding their stay Provide timely and professional follow-up communication for guests contacting the ministry Act as weekend team leader with all departments and guests needs Serve at camp meals as needed Assist all other departments as needed
Guest Planning Responsibilities Ensure all conference rooms and accommodations have been properly prepared Assist in the preparation of facilities for groups, as well as the teardown and shutdown of facilities after groups leave Maintain the phone line while on duty Resolve any group scheduling conflicts Communicate guest needs with other departments in a timely manner
Training & Oversight Responsibilities Organize and manage Lost & Found using our Chargerback software Oversee the completion of weekly tasks by all Gap Year Students as it pertains to the weekend preparations/tear down Collaborate with Tejas staff to facilitate all weekend activities Optional: Obtain/maintain site specific challenge course certification in order to assist in operating our adventure elements for guests, potentially including Lifeguard and First Aid certifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent industry experience preferred Previous camp experience preferred Flexibility and the ability to respond in grace when unforeseen situations require your assistance An understanding of hospitality and guest experience Ability to maintain relationships with all guests and staff A thorough knowledge and effective involvement in ministry A desire to grow spiritually and professionally and be a team player A key eye for detail
