Supervisor: Food Service Manager
Supervisees: Seasonal staff, as appropriate
Status: Ongoing, Full-time, Hourly
Location: Campus by the Sea (Santa Catalina Island, CA)
To advance the purpose of Campus by the Sea, this position will support the ongoing ministry of the camp, supply staff leadership in the Food Service department, produce healthy meals, maintain sanitary and organized meal production, food storage, dish cleaning and meal serving areas.
Work with the Food Service Manager to produce healthy/attractive meals and maintain a clean/welcoming environment for campers and staff. (This includes preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning.)
Meet or exceed health department standards. Follow food safety and nutritional guidelines.
Help plan and adjust menus for special and limited diets.
Ensure adequate food, supplies, and appropriate storage by tracking inventory and assisting with ordering food and supplies.
Assist with training and supervising summer staff and volunteers in appropriate kitchen policies, procedures, and practices.
Work in collaboration and partnership with other members of camp staff and leadership, including when needed on special projects.
Encourage, lead, and participate in camp community enhancement activities.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate other kitchen staff as assigned.
Seek opportunity to mentor and disciple other seasonal staff as opportunities arise.
Annually affirm the Campus by the Sea Statement of Faith, Mission and Purpose.

Demonstrated ability and experience as a Christian discipler.
College degree, trade certification or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment.
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple objectives.
A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) is preferred.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to receive and give constructive criticism in a God honoring and positive manner.
Effective planning, organizing and implementing skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
Ability to take charge of tasks and work independently.
Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours as required.
Open to learn new concepts, methods, and skills.
Must be able to work in a multigenerational and multicultural environment and demonstrate willingness to contribute to positive community development.
Ability to participate in and lead physical activities.
Ability to follow through with other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time.
Professional food service experience serving large groups.
Professional camping and/or ministry experience.
Standard First Aid and CPR, adult & infant certification (and willingness to pursue education to become certified).
Lifeguard certification (or willingness to pursue education to become certified).
