Our Purpose: To maintain a thriving and excellent Christian Camp that is available for the Churches and Christian ministries in New England to host ministry events.
Our Mission: To become the best place in Christian Camping in New England for church to host their own events. Food Service Manager Job Summary: to contribute to the mission of Singing Hills by providing excellent tasting, well presented meals, in a very clean environment, within certain financial parameters.
Primary Competencies • Has a growing relationship with Jesus, which is evidenced by love for God and love for others. • Has a genuine love for cooking, matched with a love of serving others through food. • Feels called, and is gifted by the Holy Spirit for a ministry of hospitality. • Can perform job duties even under heavy loads of stress or time pressure. • Attention to detail shown in ordering, inventory management, food prep, and cleaning. • Creatively Frugal, keeps menus and presentation fresh within certain financial boundaries.
Primary Outcomes • Prepare and/or oversee preparation of all cooked and baked menu items, and present the meals in creative and appealing ways each time guests come to Singing Hills. • Maintain a YTD rolling average of 8 out of 10 or higher on the food/dining hall category of the guest survey. • Keep the food costs below $6.00 a plate, and the labor costs for the kitchen below 25% of total payroll cost. • Pass all food safety inspections, and keep the kitchen in a constant state of being able to pass inspections.
Additional Helpful Qualifications • ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certification • A love for mentoring college age and high school age workers in following Jesus and serving quality food. • Needs to have at least 4 years experience in a kitchen with at least 2 of those years being in some form of management. • Able to lift 50 pounds, be on their feet for long periods of time, and work extended hours in a day, including most weekends.
In relation to other staff: The food service manager is a peer to all the other department managers, and works in concert with them and the director to ensure that every guest that comes leaves satisfied.
