WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:
Black Lake Bible Camp and Conference Center (BLBC) was established in 1946. We are a Christian Camp and Retreat Center that exists to be used by God in the physical and spiritual formation of youth, families, and C
communities. BLBC is organized for the purpose of operating a Christian ministry through the providing of camping activities, conference facilities, and ministry programs. The programs provided by BLBC include spiritual education, Christian training, evangelism and missions.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist the Food Service department in preparing quality meals for groups of up to 600 people. The Food Service department is a critical component of Black Lake’s ministry to campers, guest groups, year round staff, and summer staff, many of whom work at Black Lake Bible Camp as their first work experience.
This is a leadership position ensuring excellent food service.
• Assist in the training of the Black Lake Bible Camp kitchen and dining hall seasonal staff
• Responsible for overseeing food production when Food Services Manager is off shift or unavailable in the summer
• Satisfy all requirements of applicable rules and laws for foodservice
• Maintain kitchen and dining room sanitation and professional atmosphere
• Communicate frequently with guests of all ages
• Plan for and accommodate guests with restricted diets including vegetarians and vegans, allergies of all types
• Assist the Food Service department to ensure that continuous improvement and efficiency are embedded into business processes
• Assist the Food Service department to ensure that the food is of consistent quality and periodically monitored to ensure this standard
