HoneyRock Fellows - Program/Construction Assistant

HoneyRock Fellows Construction Assistant: The HoneyRock Fellowship program is for college graduates interested in exploring professional camping ministry. The Fellowship includes a Wheaton College graduate class on vocational discernment, participating in the leadership development progression, community living, and paid work and discipleship of Vanguard gap year students. This position will work the construction manager to complete construction projects as well as general maintenance of buildings and leadership of Vanguard Gap Year students working in the construction dept. 3 days a week. Familiarity or skill with construction and operational equipment is preferred, but not mandatory. Applicants must be qualified to drive vehicles under Wheaton College driving regulations and must be at least 18 years old.


The HoneyRock Fellows are seasonal employees who work under the supervision of the Vanguard and Fellows Program manager and in partnership with their specific work supervisor.

Responsibilities and Duties
As a member of the HoneyRock staff team, fulfill the mission, vision and core values of HoneyRock and Wheaton College.
Engage as an active member in in-service training for the purpose of planning, information sharing, support, and personal, professional and community development.
Growth and development of Vanguards: encourage Vanguards’ growth toward wholeness in Christ as well as maturity in thought, speech and behavior and in their understanding of living together as members of Christ’s body.
Supervision of Residence hall- working as Fellows team with Vanguard Grad assistants to provide supervision over residence hall.
Policies and procedures: hold Vanguards accountable to follow the policies and procedures of HoneyRock and of Wheaton College.
Logistics - Driving Vanguards to and from various activities and events, building care and reporting maintenance needs, communicating information that is relevant to program.
Responsible to the Construction Manager to carry out construction assignments in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
Supervise Vanguard Gap Year students working in construction three days per week.
Responsible to maintain tools and keep all construction areas safe, organized, and clean.
Winter Season snow shoveling of assigned pathways.
Preform other duties as required.

Qualifications  
Evidence of Christian character and commitment.
Understand, support and enforce the Community Covenant.
Excellent attitude, teach-ability, and strong work ethic.
Good interpersonal skills; team player.
Desire to encourage students to develop into servants of Christ.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Able to pass Wheaton driving test and requirements.
Previous experience in camp, adventure or outdoor-related ministries, residence life.
Willingness & ability to be flexible with the needs of the job.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs – increased amounts of weight may be required.
Out of town and overnight travel is required.

Pay/Compensation:
All HoneyRock Fellows positions are paid positions and include a 2 credit of Graduate Course from Wheaton College at no additional cost.

8/23/21- 5/7/22

Additional Employment Opportunity:

Fellows are strongly encouraged to stay for our summer season of ministry. This would be a paid position in addition to the compensation from the school year.
