REPORTS TO: Summer Staff Manager & Program Operations
PURPOSE STATEMENT: The purpose of the Hub Intern is to oversee the gift and coffee shop in order to maximize the experience of the guest and the effectiveness of Tejas as a ministry. This individual will serve as a vital member of our staff team, Team Two:Three. Putting others’ needs before our own, both in our relationships within the team and in accommodating our guests, striving to always count others as more significant than ourselves in accordance with Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position plays a vital role in the overall camp experience and this person will assist the Program Operations in the overall operation of the coffee and gift shops. This person will serve alongside the Tejas team in fulfilling the Tejas mission of setting the stage for Jesus to transform lives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Guest Services & Hospitality Responsibilities Provide a high degree of welcoming, detail-oriented service to guests and staff following the Team Two:Three servant model Serving as a point of contact for our host for any last-minute guest needs and communicate to Program Operations any adjustments or changes that develope Assist all other departments as needed
General Expectations Assist with merchandise sales, inventory and displays Make smoothies, coffee drinks, etc.. and work the register Assist in pool concessions as needed Maintain cleanliness of the Hub and surrounding area Maintain consistency of recipes between staff Assist with maintaining stock levels in the vending machine Communicate stock levels with the Food Service Liaison and Program Operations FIFO (First In, First Out) - rotate product, always check expiration dates Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with guests and staff Be able to articulate the mission and values of Tejas to guests and staff Be flexible and respond in grace when unforeseen situations require your assistance Watch the Shopify site for guests placing online orders, fill the order and complete the process Accommodate severe food allergies (EpiPen or airborne) by removing items from the sales floor A key eye for detail Training & Oversight Responsibilities Make sure all staff and hourly are trained on the machines in the giftshop Confirm that all staff are present and prepared for their shift
WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a seasonal position. We believe this position is more than a job, it is a ministry opportunity. Working hours may vary as necessary to accomplish the responsibilities of the ministry. Attendance for chapels, staff events and meetings is included as part of your schedule.
