Development & Event Coordinator
DEVELOPMENT & EVENT COORDINATOR Reports to: Director of Development
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The primary purpose of the Development & Event Coordinator is to assist the Director of Development in the execution and coordination of donor cultivation, relationship building in the community and special event facilitation. This position will help maintain the donor database, coordinate, plan and execute fundraising events, meet with strategic partners, as well as provide support to the other development team members as needed.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Development Coordination -Assist in the production and mailing of donor acknowledgement letters for gifts received, ensuring accuracy, quality and timeliness -In collaboration with other BRC staff, ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts via acknowledgement letters, phone calls, gift policies, adherence to donor bill of rights, and accurate information on how their gifts are used to benefit families and the community as a whole. -Provide data entry support and administration for the fundraising database; ensure accurate and appropriate information is entered into database in a timely manner -Create and development fundraising forms in alignment with fundraising initiatives
Event Coordination -Assist Director of Development with Annual Fundraising Plan implementation (donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation) -Assist the Director of Development in planning, organizing, coordinating, promoting and facilitating existing BRC special events through the utilization of project management platforms -Participate in all special event committee meetings; create agendas, take minutes, monitor event timelines and provide reports as necessary to the Director of Development.
Other -Serves as an ambassador in the community for the mission of Barefoot Republic by attending strategic networking events -Assists with fundraising events and other special events as needed -Helps cultivate strategic partnerships with other organizations and partners within the BRC community
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. -Must function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. -Maintain confidentiality on all work issues and opportunities. -Sense of humor, exceptional work ethic, “roll-up-my sleeves” attitude, and a willingness to do “whatever it takes.” -Ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow through on projects to completion, often with deadline pressures. -Ability to be highly resourceful and possess strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skills. -Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity, trust and ability to handle confidential information with discretion. -Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners and donors from diverse backgrounds. -Problem-solver, organized, focused, personable, poised, and creative.
EXPERIENCE: -3 years of experience in a similar role is preferred. -Strong business acumen skills. -Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Google Docs Suite. -Experience with CRMs is a plus.
PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: -Able to sit at and work on a computer for extended periods. -Able to lift 20 pounds and reach/bend to retrieve documents in cabinets and on shelves.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: -Office environment and offsite outdoor camp environment. -Willing to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met. -Willing to work offsite in support of camp programs and other initiatives.
