Facility Coordinator
The Facility Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the camp facilities including buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment with the assistance of gap year interns. He/she is an ambassador for Barefoot Republic in the local community, while serving as a full-time employee that reports to the Kentucky Operations Director. This position requires spiritual maturity, high energy, a positive and enthusiastic attitude as well as specific skills within a broad array of highly skilled areas. They should be available to work early morning, late evening and/or weekends throughout the year. The position also includes 15 days of paid time off.
Key Areas of Responsibility A. Staff a. Oversees and ensures that the tasks and responsibilities of all other Kentucky building and grounds staff are completed in excellence b. Works with the Kentucky Operations Director to interview, hire and review all Kentucky staff related to building and grounds and the gap year program B. Development a. Assists the Kentucky Operations Director with the Kentucky Advisory Board, a group of community gatekeepers that help to educate the community about BRC and accomplish the mission of BRC b. Schedules meetings with local businesses, churches and other non-profit organizations to share the mission of Barefoot and explore partnership opportunities including potential campers, volunteers and retreats c. Assists the BRC staff with fundraising and marketing events and opportunities utilizing the camp facilities C. Building & Grounds a. Oversees and ensures that all equipment and facilities are functional and presentable b. Oversees and ensures the safety of all facility users c. Regularly meets with staff to review projects and ensure that all responsibilities are being met d. Maintains the general maintenance and repair log on each building, structure, field, etc. e. Works in conjunction with the Executive Director and Kentucky Operations Director on all aspects of property development and facility expansion f. Works with Kentucky Operations Director and Volunteer Coordinator to plan and execute all service projects D. Equipment a. Works with other staff and interns to oversee the general maintenance and service of all camp vehicles, boats, tools, equipment, etc. b. Works in conjunction with camp staff to ensure all equipment is properly stored, labelled, inventoried and logged in the equipment manual after each use c. Helps research all potential equipment purchases and interface with contractors and local businesses and suppliers as needed E. Gap Year Program a. Helps identify and interview potential intern candidates b. Assists with the implementation of the program and the spiritual development and growth of interns c. Works with the Kentucky Operations Director to train interns to assist with all off-season programs (paint ball, low ropes, rec lake, etc.) d. Works with summer programming team to prepare interns for various summer camp roles leading up to intern completion F. Camp Programs a. Works with the Residential Camp Director to disciple the summer support staff, aka the “safari crew” b. Oversees the safari crew to ensure all facilities and programs can be executed c. Assists with the transportation of equipment and setup of all day camp venues as needed d. Oversees the camp equine program and any staff related to the equine program e. Assists with leading and teaching specialty tracks and other programs as needed G. Off-season Retreats & Programs a. Provide joy-filled hospitality and service to all retreat users and partners b. Shares the rules, expectations, mission and partnership opportunities with all users c. Cultivates relationships with existing retreat center customers d. Assists with conducting tours of the facility e. Maintains a staff schedule to ensure someone is always “on call” for retreats f. Ensures that facilities and equipment are inspected upon the completion of retreats H. Any other duties as assigned by the Kentucky Operations Director
Physical and Visual Requirements Position requires walking, sitting, standing, and driving an automobile for extended periods. Must be able to maneuver up to 100 lbs. and lift 50 lbs. Endurance to work extended hours with sustained energy and upbeat demeanor.
Environmental - Atmospheric Conditions Varying climates, weather conditions, and walking surfaces, inside and outside.
Job Qualification Requirements Knowledge and skill: 1.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. 2. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse ages, cultural, educational and socio-economical backgrounds. 3. Ability to gracefully respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members and the public. 4. General knowledge of mechanical systems, motorized vehicles and other industrial tools and equipment. 5. Ability to work with various software programs to assist with monitoring and maintaining buildings and grounds.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance is desired.
