Glorieta Adventure Camps is looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a desire to live and work in a close community to serve in the much-needed role of Outdoor Education (OE) Coordinator. COMMUNITY
The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have approximately 120 people who live on-site year-round, consisting of full-time staff, staff families, and seasonal staff. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for a somewhat remote living.

Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission by coordinating all aspects of the Outdoor Education program, including overseeing the recruitment of schools to participate, efficient operation of the guest experience, building out the curriculum, managing the budget, and steadily increasing the geographical reach of the program.

Overall Responsibility:

Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, and maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with the internal and external customers of Glorieta Adventure Camps.

Program Development and Trip Preparation:

Gather information and determine the needs of all groups to create exceptional Outdoor Education experiences.
Supervise communication with group leaders through email, on-campus tours, phone calls, and in-person meetings and conversations.
Staff development in the department through training and enrichment opportunities, regular evaluation, and feedback, once additional staff are hired.
Oversee all administrative tasks for Outdoor Education groups such as: pre-trip booking, post-group debriefing, follow-up, surveys, billing and collecting payments, preparing and receiving contracts and deposit forms, schedules, etc.
Manage all housing and resource reservations for all Outdoor Education events in Salesforce.
Facilitate all aspects of tours for prospective OE guests.
Advertise positions in the department and recruit people to fill those positions as they become available with the assistance of the Administration Dept.

Sales and Marketing:

Create awareness of the OE program through local and regional travel to schools, building relationships with leaders in education in the area.
Partner strategically with marketing and sales staff to develop and execute a growth plan to meet G2 goals.

Execution of Program:

Manage all aspects of quality control during the Outdoor Education season (housekeeping, retail, activities, etc.) to ensure guest retention and maximize guest experience
Form authentic relationships with group sponsors and leaders, teachers, future guests, and staff (full-time, summer staff, and interns)
Ensure the creation and maintenance of all group information in Salesforce to include creating and managing opportunities, accounts, and contacts, as necessary.
Develop systems and processes that aid all aspects of wonderful guest experiences.
Manage budget to meet program goals while ensuring fiscal responsibility.
Communicate internal needs to necessary staff, including but not limited to: kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, retail, activities, grounds, and full-time staff who are working

Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, recruiting trips, sales trips, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.

Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience:
The “ideal” candidate will have:

A vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to scripture, and will continue to pursue that further
Passion for the outdoors and outdoor education
Interest and expertise in STEM
Strong sense of hospitality and customer service
High degree of comfortability with phone calls, emails, guest interaction, and public speaking
College Degree or higher is preferred
Ability to use technological systems at Camp proficiently
Proficiency in spreadsheets
Experience with Salesforce
Ability to work long hours
Ability to confront, encourage, and inspire staff towards excellence in their work
Easily communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner verbally and in writing
Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail
Experience with event planning or the equivalent is highly desired
High level of managing details for up to 40 events at one time
Ability to manage, delegate, and respond to situations in a Christ-centered way
Willingness to learn new skills
Ability to be flexible with time-off and new policies
Ability to problem solve and be flexible and adaptable with the changing and developing needs of guests and handle the resulting actions with speed and kindness

Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location

Travel: Frequent travel to help with recruiting and marketing to schools around the city, county, and region.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60 lbs, sit in an office, hike, stand all day, and be willing to get your hands dirty.

Work Environment: Most work will be done in the office, at a desk. Occasionally may be asked to help with all-camp projects, including working in inclement weather conditions throughout the year.

Training: Employees will be given opportunities for improvement through appropriate training.

Compensation: Hourly wage, on-site housing, medical insurance, 401(k) retirement package after one year, and paid vacation time. See HR and/or potential supervisor for details.
