Job Title: Executive Director (Full-Time, Salaried)

Location: Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch, Stewartville, MN

Reports to: Board of Directors

Ironwood Springs is a Christ-centered retreat and camp ministry dedicated to serving individuals and families of all abilities. Through outdoor adventure, intentional hospitality, and faith-based programming, we seek to create a place where lives are transformed by the love of Jesus. Our Executive Director serves as the spiritual and strategic leader of this mission.

Position Summary

The Executive Director provides overall leadership and direction for the mission, operations, and ministry of Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch. This role ensures financial health, operational excellence, and alignment with our Christian values. The Executive Director leads the staff, collaborates with the Board of Directors, and serves as the public face of the ministry, while actively participating in fundraising, strategic planning, and community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Board Relations & Governance

Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the organization
Attend all Board meetings and provide regular, relevant updates
Serve on relevant Board committees, including Finance and Fundraising
Provide transparent, timely communication to support informed Board decisions
Financial Leadership
Lead the development and management of the annual budget in collaboration with the Board Finance Committee
Ensure the organization remains financially sound and operates within the approved budget
Submit regular financial reports and oversee audit preparation and compliance
Exercise strong financial oversight across all departments and activities
Operational Oversight

Oversee all aspects of ranch operations at a high level, including:
Programs and guest group hosting
Facility rentals and fee-based services
Marketing and community engagement
Livestock and land management
Facility systems (buildings, grounds, septic, wells, etc.)
Hospitality (cleaning, food service, guest readiness)
Volunteer coordination
Emergency management planning
Technology infrastructure and systems
Ensure all operations comply with applicable laws, licensing, and safety standards
Staff Leadership & Development

Hire and onboard staff; ensure clear job descriptions and onboarding plans
Conduct annual performance appraisals and support staff development
Review and manage employee compensation plans within budget parameters
Maintain and update the staff policy manual, including PTO and benefits
Provide spiritual leadership through faith-building opportunities and pastoral care
Foster a culture of open communication, shared mission, and professional excellence
Fundraising & Donor Relations

Lead all fundraising and donor development initiatives to support program sustainability
Organize and execute major fundraising events (e.g., Miracles Happen Gala)
Build and maintain relationships with key donors; oversee donor communications and appreciation
Encourage legacy and estate giving to the endowment fund
Execute annual fundraising plans with measurable goals
Community Engagement & Outreach

Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of Ironwood Springs
Build relationships within the local community, church partners, and regional organizations
Seek out and foster partnerships that align with the mission and expand outreach
Promote Ironwood Springs through events, speaking engagements, and collaborative service
Strategic Planning & Sustainability

Collaborate with the Board to ensure long-term strategic direction
Develop policies and procedures that support stability and clarity
Promote capital fundraising for facility upkeep and improvement
Ensure adequate insurance and legal protections are in place for all aspects of the ministry
Implement succession planning for key staff and organizational continuity
General Ministry Participation

Be willing to step into various roles as needed to support the mission (e.g., guest activities, cleaning, hosting, etc.)

Character & Leadership Traits

Mature in Christian faith; regularly attends church and aligns with Ironwood’s Statement of Faith and doctrinal beliefs
High personal integrity and servant leadership mindset
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex operations
Clear communicator with both internal teams and external stakeholders
Outgoing, guest-focused, and team-oriented
Self-starter who takes initiative to improve systems and outcomes
Qualifications & Preferred Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit leadership, camp ministry, hospitality, or business management
Demonstrated leadership experience with teams and organizational management
Proficiency with reservation, bookkeeping, or facilities management software
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Background in finance, donor relations, or ministry operations preferred
Work Schedule & Expectations

Regular office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Flexibility required for evening and weekend hours during events or guest hosting
Expected overtime: approximately 10–20 hours per week during peak seasons

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
