Director of Camps

Reports to: Founder and Board of Directors

Position Summary:
The Director of Camp Iron Bluffs is responsible for leading the launch and growth of a brand-new Christian camp, shaping its mission, culture, and impact from the ground up. The overall leadership, direction, and management of the camp’s ministries, programs, and operations will fall under the responsibility of the Director. They must have a deep love for Jesus Christ and the Gospel, a passion for Christian camping, and a commitment to seeing lives transformed through faith, relationships, and the beauty of God’s creation. As the founding Director, this role is critical to building a Christ-centered culture, establishing operational systems, and leading the camp into sustainable growth.

Salary Range: $100,000+

Key Responsibilities:
- Vision and Spiritual Leadership
- Champion and uphold the mission, vision, and values of Camp Iron Bluffs, rooted in Biblical Truth and conveyed through the Cycle Of Significance.
- Foster a spiritually vibrant, Gospel-centered environment for campers, staff, and families.
- Serve as the lead learner in supervising the spiritual development and effective performance of every employee and volunteer

Operations and Staff Leadership
- Hire, disciple, lead, and evaluate key camp leadership and operational staff.
- Oversee day-to-day camp operations, ensuring compliance with all safety, health, and licensing standards.
- Work closely with and supervise the leading mens and womens directors.
- Support recruiting leaders as they work to secure summer staff needed to meet enrollment and program goals.
- Serve as an active and participating non-voting member of the board of Directors

Program and Camper Experience Oversight
- Ensure an excellent camper experience through oversight of programming, facilities, and guest services.
- Develop and refine summer camp themes, Bible studies, and activities that create a significant spiritual impact.
- Submit all camp-related reports in a professional, timely fashion.
- Create off-season plans to stay in touch with and disciple staff and campers throughout the year.

Marketing and Promotion
- Oversee the execution of the marketing plan in partnership with the Head of Marketing.
- Lead the promotional message that emphasizes life transformation, deep friendships, and the unique camp environment, supported by authentic photos and camper stories.
- Participate in strategic outreach trips, speaking engagements, and personal contacts to grow enrollment and support.

Financial Oversight and Development
- Seek to ensure that the camp operates within the projected budget
- Assist in fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and stewardship of financial resources.

Strategic Planning
- Set measurable goals for camp attendance, staff development, program quality, and ministry impact.
- Evaluate progress regularly and recommend improvements to the Board of Directors.

Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ years of leadership experience in Christian camping, ministry leadership, or nonprofit management.
- Proven ability to recruit, build, and lead high-performing teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and across digital platforms.
- Ability to lead in a startup environment: flexible, resourceful, and hands-on.
