Lifeguard

*CERTIFICATION WILL BE PROVIDED IF HIRED BEFORE JUNE 1, 2023

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least 16 years of age.
2. ACA accepted certification from American Red Cross or other nationally accepted organization.
3. Preferred prior experience as a lifeguard.
4. Possess an interest in and an ability to plan, implement, and participate in camp programming.
5. Interest, knowledge, and skills in Waterfront Lifeguarding with the ability to teach and enthuse others.
6. Have an interest in children’s welfare and a concern for their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
7. Have experience teaching Bible lessons.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Waterfront Coordinator

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and administer a safe-well organized, interactive, creative and meaningful program in the area of swimming, boating, kayaking and waterfront safety that is in line with the goals and objectives of Camp NEOSA.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate and supervise all waterfront activities including but not limited to swimming, boating, kayaking, pontoon boat rides, and beach front games.

2. Test and classify swimming abilities of camp staff and campers. Utilize staff abilities as appropriate and necessary in carrying out the waterfront program.

3. Develop and operate a meaningful program in waterfront swimming focused to the interests, ages and abilities of the campers including the safety and proper supervision of all swimming participants.

4. Prepare and maintain the up keep of the Waterfront including necessary supplies, equipment, signage, and all other materials assigned to the Waterfront Coordinator.

5. Report any loses or damage to equipment with necessary requisitions for needed replacements.

6. Prepare an up-to-date inventory at the conclusion of the summer.

7. Assist the Program Director with other camp programming as needed.

8. Be a positive and productive member of the camp staff including social relationships and care of camp property.

9. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the conclusion of the summer.

10. Assist and share in other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
