Rhodes Grove Camp and Conference Center Program Director Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Program Director FSLA STATUS: Exempt/Salaried
Position Description Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director will provide leadership for all programming, including, but not limited to, the 24/7 leadership ministry, summer camps, retreats, and Rhodes Grove’s sponsored events. The Program Director will also assist in daily operations and promote Rhodes Grove Camp and Conference Center (RGC) opportunities. All functions will be performed within RGC’s stated mission - “To offer Christ-centered experiences that reveal our place in God’s story” - and core values.
Responsibilities • Assist in the development and execution of an annual events calendar aimed at providing opportunities for spiritual growth, maximizing resources and blessing the community. These events include, but are not limited to: o 24/7 student leadership ministry monthly events during the school year o Summer Camps and promotion of the camper financial aid ministry. o Family Camp o Winter Youth Retreat o Scrapbooking Retreat o Quilting Retreat o Ladies Christmas Tea o Christmas at the Grove o Planning of activities in partnership with the UB Association when opportunities arise. • Under the guidance of the Executive Director and through prayer and seeking the Lord, o Prepare a vision, strategic plan, and goal setting for summer camps and winter retreat programming for RGC. o Engage and coordinate guest speakers for summer camps, events, and programs. Complete reference checks on speakers to ensure their message is in harmony with the core values of Rhodes Grove. o Recruit and hire summer camp staff. o Prepare and submit an annual budget. Ensure that all programs operate in compliance with the approved budget.
• Train and supervise summer camp staff and any volunteers.
• Develop new and relevant programs and evaluate existing programs to ensure they are effective and in accordance with RGC’s mission and values.
• Promote RGC in churches, youth groups, and through community events throughout the year.
• On the first of each month, provide the Executive Director with monthly updates and action plans related to staffing, programming, and other agreed-upon goals.
• Provide the Board of Directors with a quarterly report with information about Programming along with detailed metrics for each RGC-sponsored activity.
• As necessary, assist the Guest Services Coordinator, Head of Food Services, and the Head of Facilities and Grounds to ensure smooth conferencing programs.
• Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Accomplish other tasks as deemed necessary by the Executive Director and as outlined in the Program Department Operations Manual. Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Bible, Youth Ministry, Camp, and Recreation, or a related field from an accredited program preferred, or equivalent education and work experience. • Minimum of three years relevant experience leading a youth ministry or Christian camp program, preferred.
• Must be dynamic and creative in teaching biblical truths and engaging with the community and youth and possess a passion for God’s Word and prayer. (put together)
• Must have a passion for youth ministry and an ability to relate well to others (youth and adults).
• Must have advanced computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, email, website, and social media page development and maintenance.
• Must be comfortable with social media and using technology for ministry outreach.
• Must have excellent organizational skills to ensure programs are well-planned and within budget.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to guests and potential groups and provide external marketing/recruitment to increase Rhodes Grove’s visibility.
• Must identify with and support the Rhodes Grove Camp and Conference Center's mission, core values, and Christian beliefs.
• Must provide a Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance every five years.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
