Glorieta Adventure Camps is looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a desire to live and work in a close community to serve in the much-needed role of Fleet Mechanic. We are seeking an individual to work as the primary fleet mechanic to oversee all aspects of vehicle maintenance and management. COMMUNITY The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 100 people who live on-site year-round, comprised of: full-time staff, staff families, and seasonal staff. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for somewhat remote living.
JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Fleet Mechanic Department: Fleet
Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission of inspiring Christ-like change in creating a distraction-free experience for the guests by managing all aspects of the vehicle fleet, performing routine vehicle maintenance tasks, and developing greater strengths in the vehicle maintenance field. This is an integral position that keeps our vehicles functioning properly and helps us maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff. All of this is done with the overall purpose of taking care of our wheeled assets which are an important part of the guest experience as well as staff safety.
Overall Responsibility and Expectations Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws during employment Maintain all aspects of vehicle maintenance Keep records of certifications, inspections, and other legal requirements and renew them as needed Perform standard service work such as oil changes, brake service, suspension work, and tire repair Perform troubleshooting and nonroutine vehicle maintenance issues Maintain knowledge of gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and small engine vehicles Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle maintenance safety considerations Maintain and perform repairs on small engines such as ATVs and others
Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience: The “ideal” candidate will have: High school diploma or GED The ability to work with independence The ability to perform routine tasks and checks in a timely manner The desire and ability to learn and adapt Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance Working knowledge of gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and Small Engine vehicles Working knowledge of mechanical equipment and basic preventative maintenance and repair Current driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles as needed A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of their life Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed. Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location in Glorieta, New Mexico. Travel: Possible travel for training or other organizational needs. Work Environment: This position requires manual work in a vehicle shop and occasional remote, outdoor locations Training: All employees will be given the opportunity for improvement through appropriate training. Compensation: Full-time salary with housing and benefits.
