Camp Nurse

We are looking for ministry-minded Registered Nurses to serve at our New York camps from June 18-August 19, 2023. The position includes a stipend, plus room and board. Applicants for full summer or partial summer will be considered.

Position: Camp Nurse

Reports to: Camp Health Director

Purpose: Assist the Camp Health Center in providing camper patient care

Qualifications:

A clear-cut personal testimony of faith in Christ

Agreement with Word of Life’s vision, mission, Statement of Faith and Standard of Conduct.

A willingness to learn and grow in the ministry responsibilities mentioned below.

Current NY state licensure as a nurse

Current first aid (Red Cross) RTE and CPR certifications acceptable to the NYSDOH for children’s camps (If not current, Word of Life will provide certification)

Core Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care with the Health Center team

Assist with resolving medication discrepancies at camp registrations

Assist with incoming camper health form review

Treat patients at all camps (Snow Camp, Island, Ranch and Ridge)

Administer camper medication at designated times daily and PRN medications when needed.

Keep clear documentation of patient care through established Health Center systems

Attend regular shifts in the Health Center to care for campers and camp staff

6-day, 50-60-hour work week

Training needed: OSHA bloodborne pathogens

Direct reports: None, seasonally as assigned
