Camp Sunrise Volunteer

Camp Sunrise runs for 5 weeks each summer and is an overnight camp for individuals who have cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Camp Sunrise volunteers will be assigned to a group of counselors, volunteers, and campers to spend time with for the duration of the week. A volunteer’s main role is to assist campers in daily living tasks and activities while growing safe and healthy relationships with them through participation in all activities throughout the week. Volunteers are expected to treat campers and peers with respect, sustain appropriate camper-to-counselor ratios, and do their best to ensure the safety of all campers and peers.

The purpose of this position is to further the mission of Camp Warwick by generating healthy and safe relationships with campers of various ages and abilities through participation in programming that enriches the emotional, spiritual, social, and physical lives of campers and staff. Volunteers must be 15+ years old and have the desire to work with this population of individuals. Volunteers will receive the appropriate training during orientation, always be grouped with other experienced staff and volunteers, and continually be supported throughout the week.
