Outdoor Education Cabin Leader

The Cabin Leader's primary role is to supervise a group of students, as well as guide hikes, sleep in the cabin, lead activities, and help students grow through program elements.  

$130.00 per day plus room and board available.




Essential Functions

Lead and live with students in cabin groups according to program needs for 3, 4, and 5-day sessions
Develop professional relationships with guests (students, teachers, chaperones, administrators) and coworkers
Perform duties and/or participate in activities including:
Support Program Instructors in the teaching of the curriculum
Lead various program elements including rock wall, archery, crafts, songs, games, chapels, worship, skits, dances, and team building exercises
Enforce dining hall standards during meals
When necessary, travel to multiple sites for the outdoor education programs 




Additional Functions

Attends team meetings
Provide supportive leadership when necessary
Assist in cleaning and inventory management
Provide first aid and basic health care when necessary
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 Qualifications?

Minimum education of a high school diploma  
Godly Christian character
Current Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications
Full agreement with TPCC doctrinal statement, mission, vision, and values, and compliance with staff handbook

 

Physical Demands

Abilities sufficient to carry out the essential functions of the job, including the physical fitness and endurance needed to lead hikes and activities
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and ground conditions
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
This job involves a lot of walking, hiking, standing, and participation in outside activities on various types of terrain (often uneven). While activities and hikes vary, some will be strenuous. Applicants and/or employees may be asked to take a Fitness-For-Duty test in regard to the physical nature of the job.
