Front of House Supervisor

This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. The purpose for this position is to manage the set-up, service and clean-up of the dining room and any meals served on camp as well as help the team to comply with the State and Local Department of Health, ACA, CCI and OSHCOM regulations and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all front of the house duties for morning or evening shift, which includes table set up, cleaning, managing staff, meal execution and customer service
Schedule all part-time and full-time hourly staff
Order all manager office supplies and keep in stock
Lead for back porch set -up and expectations for both shifts, when necessary
Training staff in using coffee/tea equipment properly
Train and supervise morning or evening shift leads who are filling in for supervisors in their absence
Train all staff for morning or evening shift
Keep Food Managers certificate current and take continuing education classes as needed
Supervise staff to keep storeroom, freezers, and coolers clean and organized
Work with Event Coordinator to schedule proper staff for set-up and breakdown
Work with Event Coordinator to keep event closets organized and well-stocked with inventory
Comply with state and county health regulations, as well as the facility policies and procedures for food handling and storage
Enroll staff in yearly Food Handlers Class
Communicate inventory needs to be ordered to Sr. Manager
Must exhibit competent use of food service equipment and all Food Service computer programs
Keep table charts up to date and know which guests to expect at all times
Answer any questions directed to FS by a guest or be able to steer them in the right direction so that the guest can be helped promptly
Set-up, serve and clean-up for upgraded meals hosted outside of the dining room with allotted help, as well as set-up co-managers/supervisors for success with meals served at the same time in the main dining room
Help oversee the service meal times and preparation of food items so it meets the highest standards of industry trends and guest feedback
Train and oversee part-time staff in customer service and the completion of their job
Coach and mentor part-time staff
Assist Sr Manager with payroll and with schedule and needs of staff

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Submit monthly checklist of job responsibilities to Sr Manager of Food Service
Handle locker assignments
Report to work as scheduled in a clean, neat uniform and wear name badge
Attend mandatory weekly/monthly manager meetings
Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements
Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

High school degree or GED

EXPERIENCE

Two to three management experience in food service or related field required

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Food Manager’s certificate required (Sky Ranch will assist in obtaining this)

KNOWLEDGE

In-depth understanding of the field of food service acquired through schooling or experience Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service.
Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Excellent leadership skills necessary to influence people to achieve a desired outcome
Ability to exercise independent thinking while keeping your manager updated.
Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members

Ability to communicate the vision of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers
Ability to speak, read and write proficiently in English.

Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills
Professionalism in the work place which includes professional and accurate communication with others, especially with teenagers working in Food Service.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes but is not limited to nights, weekends, and some holidays

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to performs tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination
Some physical effort is required on a routine basis; ability to use up to 25 pounds of force frequently
Requires some physical agility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, climbing and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work indoors in normal kitchen environment most of the time and outdoors at other times setting up and serving specialty meals

OTHER

Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. Must be able to fully support Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement. An active membership in a church whose spiritual beliefs are aligned with Sky Ranch’s Doctrinal Statement.

Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
