Camp Maintenance and Groundskeeper

Position Description: Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, buildings, and equipment of Camp Kearney. Make necessary recommendations for the purchase of supplies and equipment needed in this service.

Education: High School or equivalent experience.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications: Must be of Christian faith, active in local church attendance and able to share your personal testimony of faith in Christ.

Grounds Maintenance:
1. Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, pruning, ground preparation, fertilizing, spraying, irrigation, seeding and landscaping.
2. Maintain lawn equipment and maintenance records.
3. Maintain general grounds cleanup and trash removal.
4. Maintain camp trails by keeping them clear and well maintained.

Building and Facilities Maintenance:
1. Prepare cabins, guest lodge, dining hall, chapel and all other buildings for use.
a. Dust down cobwebs, sweep and mop, and/or vacuum all floors.
b. Clean and disinfect shower, toilet and sink, and restock all paper products.
c. Clean all windows.
d. Empty all trash and replace trashcan liners.
e. Replace any burned out light bulbs.
2. Assist in the maintenance of the program areas (lake, swimming pool, challenge course, etc.).
3. Assist in general maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.
4. Do weekly security check of all buildings on the camp property.

Vehicles and Equipment Maintenance:
1. Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of all camp vehicles and motorized equipment.
2. Clean and service all hand equipment after each use.

1. Always keep shop neat and orderly.
2. Maintain accurate work order requests.
3. Maintain a neat and clean appearance (working circumstances the exception).
4. Keep all tools in their proper location.
5. Assist the Camp Director and Operations Director in any duties as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp, its groups and programs.

Physical and Other Requirements: This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending. Must be able to pass the pre-employment lift test based on the job description. Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, clear driving record, and personal vehicle insurance coverage.
