Operations Manager

Position Description: With the assistance and direction of the Camp Director, provide oversight and direction of the Camp Kearney ministry, staff, programs and facilities. Plan for regular maintenance; daily, seasonal and periodic for all facilities, equipment and vehicles. Provide ongoing development and implementation of a Natural Resources Stewardship program. Host for rental groups; scheduled as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications: Must be of Christian faith, active in local church attendance and able to share your personal testimony of faith in Christ.

1. Weekly walk through to identify any needed repairs to plumbing, electrical, windows or structures. Submit repair list to Camp Director for scheduling.
2. Meet monthly with Camp Director to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment.
3. Provide instruction to all maintenance/grounds staff in the proper use of all equipment and cleaning supplies.
4. Oversee the upkeep and maintenance needs of all vehicles and motor driven equipment.
5. Purchase equipment needed and grounds/maintenance supplies as authorized by the Camp Director and in compliance with budgetary considerations.
6. Whenever possible, undertake both major and minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural repair projects thus eliminating the need for contracted services.
7. Deliver weekly job assignments to all grounds/maintenance staff.
8. Supervise and quality control check all work performed by the grounds/maintenance staff.
9. Develop and implement a Natural Resource Stewardship program.

b. Fish habitat and lakes/streams management
c. Forestry management
d. Trail system design and maintenance
e. Build and network relationships with Federal, State, County, and private conservation agencies.
10. Supervise and provide orientation for seasonal grounds/maintenance staff.
11. Recruit, interview and participate in the hiring process of seasonal grounds/maintenance staff.
12. Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of the maintenance shop, yard and inventory.
13. Maintain a neat and clean appearance (working circumstances the exception).
14. Maintain American Camping Association site approval certification.
15. Ensure readiness of all camp facilities for incoming rental group.
16. Direct the orientation of groups using the facilities and host groups as needed.
17. Assist in developing camp programs
18. Assist in developing programs for summer camp
19. Assist in giving leadership to summer camp activities
20. Assist in the recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of summer camp staff and volunteers
21. Assist with scheduling and record keeping
22. Direct activities of volunteers
23. Assist in youth department as needed
24. Perform clerical duties as assigned
25. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical and Other Requirements: This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending. Must be able to pass the pre-employment lift test based on the job description. Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, clear driving record, and personal vehicle insurance coverage.
