Director, Staff Development - Camps

Scope of Position: Provides support to the mission of the WinShape Foundation (WSF) to glorify God by creating experiences that transform. Leads a team charged with building a dynamic strategy to recruit, train, develop, and send 18-24 year old adults into the world as next generation disciple makers where they live, work, and play.

While the WinShape Camps directive is to create experiences that transform kids and families through the message of Jesus Christ, we desire that the creation and operation of those experiences serves a parallel purpose of whole person discipleship and development for these young adults.

/// Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Professional Development:

-Recruits, develops and executes robust strategies and processes to create a diverse group of 1,000 college age adults per year into the ministry
-Onboards and engages adults into the culture, mission, and programs of WinShape Camps (WSC)
-Delivers training and development resources for all summer staff leaders and contributors for Leadership Weekend (350 participants), Staff Training (over 1,000 participants), Campus Rep Program, and Leadership Development Program (LDP)
-Creates discipleship strategies to build a whole person discipleship model for summer staff:
-Leverages and maximize opportunities provided by summer camp experience as well as the influence and opportunity to be found during the off season
-Works to make four vital connections:
-Connect to God’s person through spiritual formation
-Connect to God’s people through networking and community building
-Connect God’s purpose for their life through personal and professional development
-Connect to God’s precepts through experiences with His Word

Specific Responsibilities:

-Directs supervision and execution of personal development plans for Staff Development Team Leaders, including monthly one-on-one meetings, weekly leadership team meetings, yearly performance goals, and day-to-day support and coaching
-Leads the Staff Development Leadership Team by overseeing the creation of yearly strategic goals and long-range organizational planning
-Provides operational management and support to all three functions of Staff Development, ensuring strategic alignment and team cohesion:
-Facilitate monthly staff meetings
-Lead weekly team touchpoints
-Provide feedback and evaluation
-Prepares and manages the $1.6 million Staff Development budget to ensure fiscal responsibility
-Leads strategic planning efforts to build a new model for recruiting and development for WSC
-Engages staff from all parts of the WSC ministry
-Develops close working relationships and collaborative cultures between ministries
-Lead strategic planning efforts for all functions of the Staff Development Team, alongside Team Leaders. 
-Leads team to develop creative experiences and resources for college age adults
-Works collaboratively with Talent Services, College Programs, Marriage, and Learning & Development Divisions to leverage ministry opportunity and expertise across the Foundation
-Lead the conversation regarding, and implementation of, a whole person discipleship model for Summer Staff that utilizes all three functions of Staff Development.
-Collaborates cross-camp with other members of the WinShape Camps team (Day Camps, Girls Camp, Boy’s Camp, and International Camps) to ensure the execution of goals with excellence. 
-Provides leadership, coordination and general direction for cultivating relationships with collegiate ministries (and ministers) nationwide
-Works with Communications Division to promote the WSF and WSC brand as well as the development of college students through networking, speaking engagements and media strategies
-Provides global leadership alongside WSC Director team and speaks into all WSC ministries to kids, families, college staff, and churches

/// Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience
-Skilled communicator both verbal and written
-Strategic thinker and collaborator with demonstrated ability to discern
-Requires 7+ years' experience working with camps, colleges ministries, staffing and recruiting, human resources, admissions or similar organizations
-Experience in growing and developing a diverse team preferred
-Demonstrated knowledge, training and experience in organizational processes and procedures and in financial management
-Demonstrated ability to make sound, rational judgments, analyze situations accurately and take effective action
-Ability to handle stressful situations and make well thought out decisions
-Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
-Demonstrated ability to keep staff inspired, focused and dedicated to their assigned tasks while looking for creative ways to make their work more productive
-Skilled in organizing tasks, delegating and achieving goals and objectives
-A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis
-Must hold or obtain a valid driver’s license for the state in which they are hired and have an acceptable driving record
