Do you feel a call from God to work with children with special needs in a camp setting and to love them as Christ does? Jill’s House shows Jesus’ love to children with special needs by providing weekend respite camps across the country. We are currently hiring in the greater Nashville, TN area.

The Direct Support Professional joins us from Friday to Sunday and is responsible for the guidance and supervision of the children to whom they are assigned. The Direct Support Professional performs a combination of basic care, assistance with activities of daily living and activity guidance duties in safe, nurturing environment. During our camp weekends you will be assisting our campers in activities such as, hiking, low ropes courses, swimming, craft time and even S’mores!

For the position you must be at least 18 and be a high school graduate or GED with at least three months successful experience in working directly with children. The position requires patience, good oral and written communication skills, great team skills, willingness to learn and grow, passion for working with children, physical strength and stamina to participate in camp activities.

Camp Location: Widjiwagan (YMCA camp located on Percy Priest Lake)

Dates for Camp 2022:
February 4-6
April 1-3
August 19-21
September 30-October 1
December 2-4

Time Commitment: Friday at 4:30pm until Sunday at 2:00PM

Camps Currently Held: Camps are currently held 5 weekends a year and we ask that employees commit to 3 weekends

The Direct Support Professional at Rocky Top responsibilities include…

The guidance and supervision of the children to whom they are assigned.

Performing a combination of basic care, assistance with activities of daily living, and activity guidance in a safe, nurturing environment while out at camp

Following each client’s service plan and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Be at least 18 and be a high school graduate or GED

At least three months successful experience in working directly with children.

Patience, good oral and written communication skills.

Great team skills, willingness to learn and grow.

Passion for working with children, physical strength and stamina to participate in camp activities.
