Jill's House is a 501c3 headquartered just outside of Washington, DC serving children with intellectual disabilities and their families. Our National Program includes multiple camp locations across the country in Middleburg, VA, Chicago, IL, Port Orchard, WA and Nashville, TN. The position is a mix of weekends at camp and virtual work easily done from anywhere in the Seattle metropolitan area.

The Camp Director / Local Program Manager (LPM) advances the mission of Jill’s House, overseeing all aspects of the program, through administrative tasks, camp, and community outreach. The LPM manages their team: Direct Care Staff, volunteers, nurses, and the families with children with intellectual disabilities. The LPM works to walk new families through the intake process and continues to engage the local families through enhanced family support.

Role & Responsibilities

Camp:

Recruits, onboards, schedules, and trains, new staff and volunteers each camp weekend.

Plans and executes the weekend camps. Including camper documentation prior and during the weekend. The LPM ensures camper’s Individualized Service Plans and regulations are being fulfilled.

Oversees staff and volunteers, leading the weekend and ensuring a positive camp experience and safety.

Gathers feedback from the families, their experience with our respite program, updates regarding their child’s care, or medical needs.

Behavioral Support:

Deescalates behavioral episodes of campers calmly and professionally.

Resolves situational conflict with staff, families, or volunteer professionally.

Recruitment:

Engages and collaborates with the community through individuals, churches, non-profits, and local services to advance the mission of Jill’s House.

Intake:

Responds to new leads for campers and guides the families through the intake process, including completing paperwork, phone calls, a meet and greet, and parent communication.

Family Support:

Provides support to the local families through care packages, family support initiatives, parent support groups and sibling activities.

People and Team-Oriented Communication:

Collaborates with teammates across the nation, including other Local Program Managers, Nursing Manager, and other teams on site at Jill’s House to ensure the best care for the campers.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

At least two years of relevant experience.

Preferred bachelor’s degree.

Available to work Friday-Sunday during camp weekends.

Vibrant faith and passion for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, God, and others.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Clinical skills to deescalate behaviors and ability to develop creative plans to better serve campers.

Strong supervisory skills, leadership experience, calm in high stress environment, and ability to manage emergency situations.
