Program Assistant, Entry Level Glorieta Adventure Camps, Glorieta, New Mexico
Glorieta Adventure Camps is looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a desire to live and work in a close community to serve in the much-needed role of Program Assistant. We are seeking a high-energy and enthusiastic individual to serve in a wide variety of behind-the-scenes roles to ensure the success of all programs and departments. Additionally, this individual will fill the position of guest facilitator during Retreat season and Leadership staff during the summer. COMMUNITY The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 80 people who live on-site year-round, comprised of full-time staff, staff families, and seasonal staff. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for a somewhat remote style of living.
JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Program Assistant Department: Guest Relationships
Job Purpose: To fulfill our mission of inspiring Christ-like change by supporting the programs, sales, recruiting, and projects of the Guest Relationships team and any other needed areas at camp in whatever capacity and at any time. This crucial role will support through hosting and serving during retreat season and taking on a leadership role during the summer season. Overall Responsibility and Expectations Host and serve during retreat season(August - November, March-May) in any capacity needed which could include booking & registration, set up, housekeeping, arrival, leading activities, meal prep, meal cleaning, working retail, etc Make cold calls and follow up with leads in Sales and Recruiting Work projects that would help all programs and departments get ready for their upcoming season which include building stage sets, building trails, deep cleaning, organizing, moving furniture, painting, etc Prepare for summer leadership role in one of the following areas(not an exhaustive list): Main kitchen, Family Camp kitchen, Summer Staff Leadership, with Service Team, Medical Staff, Childcare, etc Guide for Glorieta Adventures and more specifically Zip Tour Help with recruiting and marketing trips under the direction of the respective Manager and go on these trips Able to focus on and convert sales and recruiting leads from interested guests while they are onsite Maintain ongoing, personal contact and follow-up with guests while displaying outstanding Customer Service skills and teamwork Respond promptly (within 48 hours) and professionally to all email, phone, chat Demonstrate a current, accurate, and comprehensive knowledge of each program offered by Glorieta Adventure Camps Continually sharpen sales/technology/customer service skills. Learn new programs and implement new tactics via the internet and over-the-phone conversations Take ownership of specific areas of Guest Relationships as determined by Manager that fits skill set and passions
Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience The “ideal” candidate will be self-motivated and disciplined. Must possess effective customer service, organizational, and communication skills. Must have the ability to develop rapport and gain trust with guests and fellow staff members Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Exceptional email, chat, and telephone communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of team members and guests of all ages and backgrounds in an engaging manner Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and their Google counterparts, Google Drive, and Gmail Ability to work long hours frequently including on most weekends Ability to confront, encourage, hold accountable, and inspire staff towards excellence in all aspects of their work Strong sense of hospitality and customer service An attitude that takes initiative, is a self-starter, and is constantly learning and striving towards growth Ability to manage a variety of projects and work on several teams simultaneously Ability to solve problems creatively within constraints Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly for most tasks Comfortable and adaptive in a rapidly changing environment Ability to present to and train staff members Confident, dynamic, positive, and driven Ability to seek and receive constructive criticism Ability to speak in front of large and small groups, comfortably Ability to prioritize time well and manage several projects at a once Capable of working in a structured environment, while successfully completing projects with minimal supervision Ability to consistently and properly follow up with customers Possess a current driver’s license and the ability to drive company vehicles as needed A personal relationship with Christ that permeates all aspects of their life Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore ALL staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of the camp’s property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed. Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location in Glorieta, New Mexico. Travel: Possible travel for training, conferences, recruiting, sales, and other organizational needs. Time Commitment: This job is a 12-month contract. Physical Demands: Ability to sit and focus on a singular task for several hours at a time. Ability to walk for long distances across varying terrain. Some lifting of heavy objects will likely be required. Work Environment: This position is primarily office-based on location in Glorieta, NM but frequent outside work will be required. Training: All employees will be given the opportunity for improvement through appropriate training. Compensation: Salary, On-site housing in one bedroom of a shared house, Basic utilities, Medical insurance, Paid vacation time.
