Manager, Outdoor Education

Alliance Redwoods (ARCG) has an exciting opportunity for a new leader to join the team, driving an inspirational experience for the children and guests of our Outdoor Educational program! Nestled in the heart of the California Redwoods, ARCG provides a magnificent 115-acre outdoor classroom for students to learn and grow. We strive to transform students by developing deeper connections with themselves, other students, and nature through our quality classes, activities, and beautiful environment – not to mention our nearly 3,000 feet of ziplining! This key position will be responsible for developing and coordinating outdoor education and guest programs, in alignment with our Christian mission and values. On-site housing is available.

What you’ll be doing
• Researching, developing, and coordinating all new and existing programs for the Outdoor Education and guest programs offered by Alliance Redwoods.
• Developing a cooperative, collaborative, and flexible program team and culture, that aligns with our Christian mission and vision
• Providing leadership and oversight to Outdoor Education Instructors in assigned program areas: Curriculum, Herpetology, Recreation, and Resources
• Hiring and developing program staff
• Leading professional learning opportunities for program staff through spring/fall training seasons, and regular in-service trainings
• Developing and maintaining the yearly Outdoor Education and Herpetology budget

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
• Demonstrate effectiveness in developing program curriculum.
• Demonstrate leadership capabilities.
• Ability to supervise people effectively, plan, organize, and lead projects
• Maintains current knowledge and abilities in all aspects of Outdoor Education; including, but not limited to, curriculum development, teaching, and CA state education standards.
• CPR/First Aid and/or Lifeguard certified; Instructor certification preferred

Education / Experience
• Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university
- Emphasis in physical science and/or education preferred
• Experience:
- Two years proven managerial experience in Christian Camping and Experience in Outdoor Education
- Proven ability to lead and encourage a collaborative team effort and positive team culture
- Familiarity with classroom-based content and teaching strategies
