Overnight Camps Coordinator

Responsible for the overall development, planning and implementation of Black Rock Retreat’s Overnight Camps to meet the educational, spiritual, physical and social needs of campers and seasonal staff.

1. Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ exhibiting evidence of a consistent, growing, daily walk.
2. Desires to serve the Lord and to make Him known to others.
3. Is in agreement with Black Rock Retreat's purpose, statement of faith, and policies.
4. Is flexible and able to lead staff, delegate tasks, improve current overnight camps, interact with customers/campers, provide helpful feedback, create high functioning teams, and implement/create new overnight camp programs.
5. Has strong leadership qualities and is a good Christian role model.
6. Demonstrates the spiritual, mental, and emotional maturity needed to have sound judgment, good decision making abilities, and the ability to stay calm and think clearly in emergency situations.
7. Exhibits creativity in planning, programming and leadership.
8. Demonstrates humility, leadership agility, strong work ethic, and an attitude of servant leadership.
9. Is able to interact with individuals of all ages and effectively communicate information to a large groups of people.
10. Holds a college degree in a related field of study, or has comparable experience directing similar programs.
11. Has a genuine heart for ministry and seeing people come to know Christ.
12. Is able to maintain a good attitude about themselves, the people they work with, and their job.

1. Has ability, experience, and patience working with, leading, and ministering to various age groups, particularly youth.
2. Possess administrative, organizational and strong communication skills. Is adept at public relations and is detail oriented.
3. Has excellent decision-making abilities and is able to operate effectively under pressure.

5. Is able to constructively handle corporate and personal conflicts.
6. Possesses a love and enthusiasm for people and desires to create an atmosphere that promotes spiritual growth.
7. Ability to manage staff, coaching them to use their skills to achieve their highest potential.
8. Is willing to help in any area of camp, especially in seasons where overnight camp is less active.

1. Oversee and coordinate all components of the Black Rock Retreat Overnight camp programs alongside the Director of Programs, as well as helping in other programs as needed.
2. Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy in cooperation with the Office administrator, Director of Programs and Media Team, in order to attract more campers, parents, and families to the overnight camp programs.
3. Coordinate the operation of the Overnight Camp program including contract processing, scheduling, hiring, recruiting, and assisting the Office Administrator with registration as needed.
4. Recruit, hire, train and manage the seasonal Overnight Camp staff/volunteers. Work effectively with staff to create a team atmosphere conducive to spiritual, emotional, and social growth.
5. Evaluate and improve the Overnight Camp manual as needed.
6. In collaboration with other program leaders develop and maintain a written operations/procedure manual for the Overnight Camp programs.
7. Annually evaluate the Overnight Camp facilities and activities with the Activities Coordinator and other program leaders.
8. Plan and coordinate leadership development strategies for the overnight camp team alongside the Director of Programs.
9. Attend and schedule recruiting trips as needed or assigned by the Director of Programs.
10. Process hiring paperwork for all of the seasonal summer staff.
11. Develop new hiring strategies with the Director of Programs.

1. Establish effective communication between the Overnight camp team and other Black Rock Retreat program areas.
2. Prepare reports on the Overnight camp programs as requested by the administrative team.
3. Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other departments if the need may arise.


Attend training seminars, conferences, and workshops to stay current in the operation of overnight camps. Attend/lead trainings for CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding. Attend CCCA training events as requested. Visit other camps with Overnight camp programs as assigned in order to come up with new ideas for Black Rock Retreats overnight camps
