Assistant Director of Guest Services

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Activities at SpringHill’s Indiana Overnight property (INON) joins the Indiana and Michigan Overnight Teams. The Assistant Director of Activities provides activity support for our programmed and non-program retreats. The Assistant Director of Activities is located in Michigan for the majority of the year (40 weeks) and serves on-site at the INON property for summer season (12 weeks).

Key Job Functions

• Lead and facilitate activities for programmed and non-programmed retreats at Michigan Overnight property from September to May and Indiana Overnight property from May to August

• Prepare activities for each season and tear down activities post season at both overnight properties

• Maintain and inspect current activities at SpringHill (both locations) including but not limited to, high adventure, target sports, and aquatic activities

• Provide support in supervising Activity Weekend Leaders and Volunteers

• Collaborate with others in large group programming

• Help coordinate schedules and assist with staffing for weekend groups and mid-week groups • Assist in training staff to facilitate and maintain equipment

• Ensure that activities operate consistent with policies and procedures, ACCT standards and follow the guidelines and recommendations of both ACA and CCCA standards

• Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Activities and Guest Experiences

Experience and Qualifications Requirements

• Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of SpringHill

• Bachelor’s degree or two years working in camping ministry preferred

• ACCT level 2 certification or Challenge Course Manager certificate preferred

• Experience and/or certification in three or more of the following areas; target sports, aquatics, high adventure, equine, crafts, project management with the desire and willingness to acquire expertise/certification in other areas of activities

• Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time performing tasks independently

• Ability to exercise judgement and make good, sound decisions

• Provide fun and engaging experiences for all SpringHill guests and campers



Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license for required travel

• Must be able to lift, bend, and twist

• Willingness to travel to Indiana to serve there all summer long

• Ability to push and pull loads

• Must be able to lift frequently up to 50 lbs.; occasionally 50-100 lbs. with assistance

• Good hand-eye coordination
