Program Director - Family Camp
Camp Agape is a 501(c)(3), Non-Profit Organization operating in support of children between 7 and 12 years of age, who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Over the years, Camp Agape has expanded their program and holds a Family Retreat annually. Our family retreat helps the children and their family unit cope with their loss with the fun and creative aspects of our summer camp program. The program focuses on helping the families work through their loss, learn from their grief and find a new home from their loss. The program is offered at no cost to the children through sponsorships by private, community, and corporate giving.
We are looking for a Program Director for our Family Camp Program. This is a contract paid position.
The Program Director for Family Camp will provide overall leadership for the ministry to fulfill its mission to organize, deploy, instruct, assign, and oversee all projects to assure that Camp AGAPE is not only safe but fulfills its mission on the behalf of grieving children and their families. Program Director will work directly under and with the Vice President of Programs to successfully hold Family Camp.
RESPONSIBILITIES The Program Director is responsible for:
1) HUMAN RESOURCES:
a) Directing the recruitment of families, counselors, nurse and mental health professionals as needed for the Family Camp
a) Filing monthly reports with the Board Secretary and President informing the board about the status of projects and family camp preparations
b) Filing a post summer camp report with the Board Secretary and President
c) Providing monthly reports to the Finance Committee of all such expenditures
d) Submit detailed quarterly reports of projects completed for payment of quarterly salary.
e) Advising the Board on governance decisions that may affect the operation of the family camp including location, facilities, personnel, applicable laws, and health and safety
3) OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
a) Maintain regular communication with families after they apply up to the commencement of the retreat
b) Working directly with the Vice President of Programs to ensure that all aspects of the family camp planning are complete and successful.
c) Operating the retreat in a manner that complies with the purpose of the Corporation
d) Maintaining records in compliance with applicable laws and the Corporation Records Retention Policy
e) Such other duties and responsibilities as set forth in her / his contract
f) Obtaining all required permits for the operation of family camp
g) Communicate with committee chairs at least once a month providing support to the committees
h) Communicate important due dates to the teams and committees
Program Director shall possess the experience, knowledge, and /or education and training necessary to facilitate the operation of the family camp and assigned projects. The Program Director should be proficient with the following computer skills: word processor, spreadsheets, Internet, email.
