Indiana Overnight Dining Hall Supervisor
The Dining Hall Supervisor plans, schedules and controls all areas of INON kitchen to meet all quality, operational and financial responsibilities. This includes food and labor cost, supervising, training and policy and procedural implementation and documentation. The INON Dining Hall Supervisor works with the Kitchen Staff to ensure a successful SpringHill dining experience.
Key Job Functions
•Responsible to recruit and hire hourly employees for the kitchen while maintaining the labor budget
•Administer, ensure and enforce compliance with all SpringHill policies and regulatory training
•Responsible to train hourly staff members and schedule all kitchen staff members. The Dining Hall Supervisor is responsible to maintain a fully staffed kitchen
•Responsible for dish room, front of the house and dining hall management and overall kitchen cleanliness.
•Lead in the management of employees while encouraging teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication. Responsible to report problems and concerns to the INON Director of Operations
•Assist in the creation and implementation of the menu including healthy and nutritional food options and assists with preparing and cooking as needed.
•Develop relationships with guests with special needs and ensure they are provided with the appropriate meals for their dietary needs.
•Complete other duties as assigned by the INON Director of Operations
Experience and Qualifications Requirements
•Commitment to the mission and ministry philosophy of SpringHill
•Ability to respond to multiple simultaneous issues by prioritizing problems and finding creative solutions
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
•Knowledge of food allergens and experience in preparation of special dietary food.
•Ability to lead, train, develop, supervise, and motivate a diverse team of staff members
•Ability to communicate and read clearly and concisely
•Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices. Ability to detect unsafe equipment and take the appropriate actions to maintain safety
•Knowledge of basic computer applications
•Bachelor’s Degree preferred
•ServSafe Certification required (with the ability to maintain certification during employment, this certificate can be acquired after job is accepted).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
•Must be able to lift, bend, and twist
•Ability to push and pull loads
•Must be able to lift frequently up to 35 lbs.; occasionally 35-100 lbs. with assistance
•Good hand-eye coordination
